I'm set up at two wheels. What a great ride in. Vogel state park to here was fantastic. I'm just over the bridge then first left. First table on left by the creek.

Great first day! We started off with about 8-9 people lost a few on the way and ended up being only 3, Mike Dan and myself. Had a couple of spills and took a dip in the river, but I had lots of fun.

Now we are camped at kickstand lodge, under Mike’s suggestion

Tomorrow we will meet at IronHorse 0800 kickstands up 8:30 F8EE518E-5458-468B-82EA-39C5CEEFA41A.jpeg DCCEC249-82F6-4883-9B36-F16C71130711.jpeg

No rain this evening. We were able to grab dinner in Bryson City. Jimmy and Mac's diner I believe. My blacken trout was very good. Enjoyed the ride back to camp and then smoked a cigar as stories we're shared by our group and others staying at the kickstand lodge. Good people, good times. [IMG]

Great trip! Thanks to all that organized and came along. Weather was perfect other than the deluge the night before we got started. We did get a strong shower the afternoon of the second day but we all had already made it to camp and chose to go back out and play in the rain. We ate like Kings other than a burnt pizza or five. Maybe someone should go back and talk to those pizza shop employees. Any volunteers? There are always good stories to go around. I hope everyone's injuries heel up well. Till next time! Thanks y'all.

Great trip. Got home in one piece; and that's a first :)

PS> I did not laugh when someone struggled in the creeks and the deep gravel,
so return my favor when I struggle in the FL sand :p3rry,
maybe at the Turkey Trot this year :)

I made it to a hotel in Winston Salem last evening. Going to visit with some family and friends for a couple days before heading back to the sweat box. I didn't take any pictures but had a great time amd got to see some awesome scenery. Only injury I sustained was from stepping on a stupid tent stake while getting up to pee from the hammock at 3 am. It's still sore as crap but will heal. Really enjoyed talking to everyone at the stops and camp. Hope to see you all at the trot!

The pizza girls were hot; but they burnt all three pizza. Did not order "blackened pizza" so got refunds.
The place used to be Krambonz BBQ.
    Hate to see it closed.

The riding was great to me. Only a few challenging sections not too many, about the right number for me. The easy gravel and remote paved curvey roads were the norm. Those were relaxing and just enjoyable. There was always some awesome little farm with a cabin right around the corner. The scenery was amazing. My wife and I have hiked over 1000 miles on the Appalachian trail. This has a lot of the similarities to that but without the torcher of walking up and down mountains with 50 lbs on your back. When this got steep you just twist your hand a little. Much easier. So the riding was great. The weather which looked like it might give us trouble, was fine. I rode mostly with Dario and Mike. We could not have gotten along better. The other guys we met at camp. They rode the ride different than we did but they had a great time too. At camp, things were entertaining to keep it simple. We had a lot of good memories. Everyone was generous and kicked in to make it a blast. I learned about some panther rock band,. The pizza women, breakfast in a can and lots more. The camp grounds that we stayed in we're really chill. They all had pavilions for guys to hang out in, good music, and the last two nights beer sharing refrigerators. Basically, if you buy some beer keep it in the fridge. Leave the left overs for other people or take one if your out. Pretty cool concept. If you couldn't get beer on Sunday just take one out of the community fridge. The kickstand lodge in Robbinsville had an open bar with the same concept. The owners of the campgrounds came out and hung around with us. The dude at cherohala ate with us and brought some food to share. Pretty cool people. Again, all in all a great trip, great people, awesome route.

    My two cents
    Dan

Mike did a great job leading us on the Africa twin. This previous post flows better when you read it out loud with a Korean accent.

Mike is Korean and Dario is Italian. It made for an international adventure. I didn't even have to bring my passport.

    Good times.
