Tar Heel Speedway is proud to announce that we have obtained a date to host a SEMDTRA (South East Motorcycle Dirt Track Racing Association) event. SEMDTRA is one of the premier Dirttrack racing groups in the Southeast and run an excellent program with all youth classes, vintage 250 and open, amateur and Pro classes. We generally have some ATVs show up and will have some special events to get the spectators involved.

The race date is Sept. 7th and the track is located at
    271 Victory Lane
    Tar Heel, NC 28392

Look for more info here, at the SEMDTRA web site and at Tar Heel Speedway FB page.

A great track that is being resurrected by an inmate that lives and breathes old skool. It's an infectious motorcycle fever he can offer to young and old alike.

This is a link to the site listed above http://www.semdtra.com/

Should be a great evening of racing. Hope to see lots of inmates there! I have a feeling if you bring it, you can run it one the track (for the half-time show) :lol3 :evil Shooting flames are a plus.

The SEMDTRA race on Sept 7 will be quite an event, the Open Pro class will have a couple of "Surprises" in it!?!? Our "Local" Pro riders better be extra ready!!! It sure would be nice to be in the truck with the RIDEAcademy crew heading for Springfield... Stoopid job! RIDEAcademy will be representing at the Tar Heel race.

Anybody that will be in Springfield on Thursday, the RIDEAcademy will be doing a one day school. Go by and check 'em out. Even if you don't participate you may get to hear Mike Hacker, "Deuce", Johnny Lewis, the Texters or a couple of other Pro riders giving tips to current and up n coming riders. The new RIDEAcademy training simulators will be in use and just watching that will change how you thought this "flat track thang" is done... Y'all be safe out there and think about us while we are at home being "responsible"

Just looking for a good time and relighting the flat track fire in our area... Did a Supercamp years ago and like you said, it was a hoot!!! Did a RIDEAcademy a couple of years ago and it was cool to be on my bike at speed at Aonia Pass, GA. with Jake Johnson "pushing" me around... We built some training simulators for Hack that he will debut at Springfield.

If the millionaire thing works out, look for a plane ticket in the mail to come hangout and run some laps...:deal

    Tar Heel Speedway open practice
We are gonna open the track for practice Sunday after
Church and most of the day Monday. DS tires work well and we have a practice bike that you may want to run a lap or two on.

Graded the track this afternoon and started the watering process... It looks nice and has a good established base so it should make a fast track by Saturday night.

    Tar Heel Speedway Auction
Just talked to Mike Hacker and he said he rounded up some cool stuff while he was at Indy to auction at the race Saturday night to raise some funds for
St. Baldrick's Foundation. We got stuff from Jared Mees, Kenny Coolbeth Jr, Johnny Lewis, Joe Kopp and Brad Baker... Oh yeah, and some dude named Hacker LOL!!! We can't thank these guys enough for chipping in. Bring your checkbook and pick up some cool Flattrack collectables and donate to a worthy cause during Chidhood Cancer Awareness Month. "Racing for a Reason"!!!

Oh yeah... And some junk from a Jake Johnson fella???

Very good cause and a lot of money was raised. Update us on the total when you get a chance.

This is what a real track owner should look like...

Thanks for the support, it's always a better time when you and the CFO are in attendance. When the numbers are totaled we'll post it. I want to thank all the inmates that showed up and supported...

    Mike Hacker... Joe Kopp ?
IT these CAN NOT be the same guys I knew back in the day. No, these guys were running out of Maroni's, partnered with Jones Powersports and riding to the races via "Dave Burks Motorsports." Kind of a low buck effort if I remember correctly, I donated work to do some sort of "Flaming Eyeball" graphic work on Kopp's XR one year.

No, can't be them... I do recall our, "Mike Hacker" returning a demo jet ski to the dealership (Jones Powersports) in (if I remember correctly) more than one piece. I think OUR Joe Kopp may have done some good one a KTM on year ;)

Kopp was not there, but Hacker was... He gathered up a bunch of stuff from the VA. Mega mile and at Springfield that was signed by Kopp, Johnson, Baker, JL10, "Deuce" and Ol #67 himself... "Hack Man"... The street bike class is something I always throw out when I'm involved in a race, just to try to get some folks interested... Most people are scared, but I know you ain't! Back in the day, I'd have jumped all over a deal like that... One of my street bikes was a 1983 XR1000... Wish it was still in the barn. Let us know when you're back in the "neighborhood" and we'll make sure you get plenty of seat time turning left. Be safe, we ain't hard to find.

Brother ! I will be in town (Sandford ish) until the 6th. Planning a track day on the 21st and that's about it.

I would prefer to run the 1200 as a "Streetbike" but would try and find some tires for the KDX to make a race before I head out to the nether regions. Benefits to the track... I'm, "Fun to watch" as my 3rd Grade Home Room teacher placed in my, "permanent record."

Man... Hacker is probably an "Adult" now. The last time I saw him he was a teen racing (I think) a Ron Wood's framed "Rotax" that look suspiciously like a Can-Am Sonic 500. Can't remember if it was Mike or Joe on the 883. I do remember Dave and Phil changing heads on the HD between heats. Springfield, 1998(ish.) ?? I walked out of the stands to the pit entrance and Dave Burks spotted me from across the pit wall yelling... "Are you racing or what?"

The SEMDTRA event was BIG!!! With over 83 entries... We need to start running some local races and expect the rider count to be low enough that complete classes may not be possible so we are gonna run a "Classless" race. Instead of running anymore open practices, we are gonna call it a race and see what shows up and grow it from there. Now the bad news is the next opportunity to do that will be while you are at VIR... But if you want to come run some laps, we will be at the track next Saturday working(?) and the track will be prepped to ride on. Come run some laps on our TTR 230 practice bike or the sporty...

Yeah, Hack is grown up(?) got a couple of pretty little girls (about 2 and 4), has a "real job" to pay the bills then tunes for HD and Coolbeth and has a racing school, RIDEAcademy.
