I think the funniest thing is that, in HE, a post by Baldy precedes my question.

Anyway, my take away was that any questions/clarifications of ads should be taken to PM.

I fat-fingered a post copy. His original post is right where he posted it originally.

Relevant questions from a legitimate buyer never need to be taken to PM.

Well, then our definitions of 'relevant' differ in that I thought that clarifying/verifying the registration class of a normally CDL vehicle to be so.

I'm speaking in generalities, and you are asking for specifics. I don't think you will find a satisfactory answer from this exchange. If you have posts moved in the future that you want explained, just ask. Too much time has passed for this issue. If you are still a potential buyer for Mr Cob's vehicle perhaps he still has it and can answer your question.

Just a thought: A few times we prune questions from a "For Sale" thread because they have already been answered earlier in the thread or in the ad itself and the poster either missed it or was just too lazy to read the thread before posting.

For example, from one of the current ads:
It's the 30th post in the thread.

From the VERY FIRST POST in that thread:

Not saying this was the case here, but it would make sense to me if it was.

Yes, I was addressing specifics and, of course, I understand that; Cob was very forthcoming with additional info.

Questions/comments/concerns via PM works for me, which is what I was advising dadodirt re: his query here.

Frankly, there probably needs to be no provision for discussion otherwise in a FM ad.

The FM works as well as it does because when things do go sideways, peer pressure will frequently straighten it out. If a person posts about buying a set of lights with a wiring harness, then posts about installing and cutting up the harness, then a seller posts about selling some lights and the buyer wants to return them after hacking them up; it is very easy to look at post histories to figure out who did what from some rudimentary searching. That will also allow future sellers to decide if they want to sell to such a buyer.

There is a lot of value to posting as a buyer in the FM.

I would also suggest ditching tapatalk in the FM. When I move things to HE or delete an ad, I add comments that show up as alerts, but evidently do not show up to tapatalk users. A lot of questions are answered via the alerts, but many members do not see them.

    Retro,

    "Retro said:
Very likely it was not posted by the seller. Often information thought to be helpful can be incorrect, or unappreciated by the seller. It's generally preferred that the seller answer questions relating to their item.

I am often asked to move comments from well meaning contributors by the sellers in a thread.
I do not understand your reply.

    I made no comment.

    edit: found it http://advrider.com/index.php?threa...rv-hauler-a-real-truck.1270757/#post-33807078

    From the ad:
This is a turn key truck, that is already registered and titled as a "Motor Home" in Washington State, this should make it easy to have it registered as an "RV" in your home State. In Washington, and many other States, as this "vehicle" is now legally registered and titled as "motor home" you do NOT need a CDL to drive it
I can no longer locate the original ad.

    my question:

    re: "Motor Home"

The tractor, alone, is designated as such, correct?

The question, above, to the seller was asked by me; specifically, I asked the seller for clarification about the registration status listed in his ad which seemed confusing to me and, potentially, to others.

The seller was more than open to the inquiry/clarification and was similarly surprised that it, along with all other questions, had been "punted".

I was, therefore, left with the understanding that any/all questions were best conducted via PM, as I previously wrote.

    What am I missing?"

I suppose if I call bullshite on this all my FM ads will be punted, but bullshite it is as I PM'ed you and asked WHY my answers to legitimate questions were being punted from my truck-RV Hauler ad, you basically told me to buzz off. I have the PM's to prove this unless they suddenly go down "the memory hole".

I understand that in this case you did not complain, but when a technical question is asked about an item and not answered by the seller, it is often going to be moved without you requesting it.

Questions to the seller from potential buyers are not removed, though sometimes fat-fingering can occur. We are not perfect.

I don't know what else to tell you on this. Your ad is active, and potential buyers are free to ask questions.

Being whiny in the ad about moderator decisions is a good way for the ad to be removed. You can find the posts that were moved by going to the FM prune thread in HE. Search for posts from you. Posts that are removed as early bumps, are not searchable by you, as they are deleted and left in the thread for other moderators to see in case someone is frequently bumping too early.

    We don't read every thread.

We look at a lot of them.

If you think we are playing favorites you are mistaken.

No, not favorites,,,, some fm theeads can get shit on and not nuked, while another completely harmless comment will get nuked immediately.

Sure, report it,, you dont read all of them,,, thats fine,, but certainly not every reported comment needs to be nuked.

Maybe they don't all NEED to be moved, and not all are. Not all speeders get a ticket, but those who do were speeding.
