Welcome to the Flinders Ranges, South Australia:

    God's own trail riding country

The quiet country town of Blinman, that until we got there for

    The inaugural Flinders Classics

The Man.....the Organiser........"AussieTrev"...... aka "DrTrev" .....aka TrekkieTrev.....aka "PastieTrev"

His mighty machine, a tricked up DR650 jetted, staintuned, tankered up, hoey-ed suspensioned tuned weapon that can keep with the wildest of brumbies despite being loaded up with everyones' spare parts & tubes etc............................(sadly for him, only ridden for a few hours)

The machine ridden for much longer to link up with the flight back to Adelaide for a 36hr stay at the RAH.

I'm happy to report that he can still wipe his own ass & should fully recover in time.

His beer sadly left behind in memory

Non the less, he seemed to get the exhilaration of getting to the top of SkyTrek's Mount Caernarvon

    Unlike some others

As he waited for the ambo he asked me to show his DR the sites while he will be away (Lucky for me I think it was just after the jab he got, but I had witnesses & the responsibilties of recording the event)

The Event started for the gnarly ol' "Adventure Riders" CharlieW & MB before sunrise as they prepared to tackle the ride from Adelaide on their bikes, although Stacky did ride up, he took two days so that doesn't count. [IMG]

Despite the drought we still managed to find water

Out of Quorn & into Yarrah Vale Gorge

By the time we reach Blinman the shocky on the TDM was shagged

It was sent home on a trailer & inadvertantly suffered a severe dust storm behind the 4x4 so much so that dust clogged the starter switch requiring a push start to ride the final 30kms home (luckily Chris lives on a hill) & also even getting behind the temp gauge glass. Thanks again for the lift home Chris.

Our Tour Guide......The Doc.....................would you trust this man with eyes like that? [IMG]

Our Accommodation Acquisitioner.........Kipo & the story tella......... MB

    The Historic accommodation

    The Budget accommodation

    The Super Budget accommodation

Our hosts.............................seemed like 50 thousand of the B52 sized bastards

Kipo returning with Trev's bike with a huge grin on his face..........I like it ........I like it [IMG]

CharlieW reinacting the branch hitting incident

Day Two we hit the P.A.R. Artimor Track

    Secret Mens' Business

In memory of Trev's accident, we marked a spot [IMG]

We were fortunate to have "Captain Australia" with us [IMG]

    Aah! ......................................that cools the spot.

What the ............ is he doing......? [IMG]

    The infamous cane/killing field

    Only for some............

A well earned rest break at Parachilna

    So!....................it's not my bike

It was then back to Blinman for a reinactment of old times being on the road.

    Then

    Now

Homer & Bart were there too

    Out again after lunch

    Who....me?.................................I don't fall over!....

    Kipo collecting rocks

Now pay attention DR, I promised Trev I'd show you the sites........................over there is Lake Frome........

A European traveller passed through Blinman when we got back

See DR, I told you there would be good scenery in the Flinders [IMG]

    [IMG] ............................. [IMG]

and the boys needed cooling down after she arrived or was it testosterone going overtime [IMG]

    Day 3.

    Old Moxan's Hut

Finally the summit of Mount Caernarvon

    Then the trek down

For a refreshing beer at Wilpena Resort

But who can forget the fabulous pizza's at the Blinman Hotel...........out of this world [IMG]

That was #1 in 2008. We had 75 riders up there in April this year for Classic #4. If you look at the botom of MB's post you'll see a link to more of his RR's including Classic 2 & 3. He couldn't make it to #4.
