Hey Roland it's about time you got this thing moving again!
It was a real pleasure meeting you in San Felipe. Looking forward to hooking up with you again sometime to do some riding . PM me your email address and I'll send you some pictures...
Thanks for the comments guys!
Hola Steve, hey it was great meeting up with you as well! Definetly hope we can hookup sometime. Hasta la Vista!
I'll send ya a pm with my direct Email.
This day was exciting & Lilys favorite. We went to Thombstone. Sight of the famous gunfight at the
Gotta guard my woman.
Gee! Lily sure looks happy.:huh
We saw a re-enactment of the Gunfight. That's Wyatt Earp & Doc Holliday.
These are not the kind of bars I like to handle.
One of the Locals.
Another one of the locals. He actually started to move when we got close for a pic.:eek1 A personal
space thing I suppose!
Ya lookin fer trouble?
JUST HANGIN AROUND.
The End (Not really, stay tuned lots more hangin around)
Desert museum just outside of Tucson. Desert wildlife, flora & fauna. It was a big place!
Hang around here too long & these start growing out of your head.
These are great to lean on, no chance of your hand slipping off. Actually I just wanted a
spectacular picture no matter how much it hurt. Can you see the ponits of the needles sticking thru my hand? Youch!
I love the "just hanging around". How's the bike doing two-up?
The Strom is great 2 up & still adequate power.
Lily doesn't like the gravel/offroad however.:huh
So we left Tucson & went to visit my sister Cathy & her husband Larry who live in Calgary & winter in Yuma Arizona. Nice climate right thru the winter. They're avid golfers and greatly enjoy the weather and plentiful golfing opportunities the area affords.
They also enjoy a great group of friends they have made there.
After having dinner they made me dry the dishes while Lily sat, watched & took this picture.
While there we saw a huge sanddune recreation area in California & did some quick shopping in Algodones Mexico. Bought a great Baja cap which you'll see in subsequent pictures. Not this one. See next one.
Visit was short but sweet.
Next we're headed for Scottsdale.
We finished the week together in Scottsdale Arizona.
The bronze statues in old Scottsdale were spectacular.
The wild wild west.
Poor Lily got sick last day, : unusual for her, & she got it bad , I think it was food poisoning
Whoh! Lily has left just in time, bad weather is coming in.:dog
My bike is on trickle charge while yours is doing mileage . Great pictures. Just keep on making us jealous . John H
Awesome report. Nice to see Lilly was with you and you had a good time.
Really need these reports to get me through the winter (brrrr-20 celsius outside).
Please keep em coming.
Sounds like alot of fun...
looking forward to some of the same miles in my coming future
Great travelogue! Texas looks like it has some interesting roads and spots in the middle of no where. Jessie & I road the Tail of the Dragon on our 750 cruiser and we found it quite a challenge. Thanks again for thinking of us. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for the responses Guys
My honor to get your 1st post Ancient Rider, welcome to the asylum.
Weather turned nasty. I was able to use the day for reorganizing, replanning due to the bad weather & do some bike Maintenance. A big thanks to my buddy & fellow ADVer Az Mike who lives in Phoenix. I was able to get some stuff delivered to his place and he helped me get it on the bike. I didn't realise how long it would all take. The Idea was to get that done & take him out for dinner, but the last part never worked out so I owe him. It was fun though working together in his awsome garage. New centerstand, Givi tailcase, front sprocket & an oilchange. Thanks a ton Mike.
It was getting late at that point & off I went into the wild bl..ack yonder with major wind as I've never experienced before. Thought the bike was going to blow right out from under me. Also had to dodge all the tumble weeds tumbling across the road. Stopped for the nite in Appache Junction.
The weather to the north was very bad, cold & snow. So afterchecking areas, (Great having a laptop along for checking weather & planning), best area was southeast & down to Tucson. Sort of unfortunately, where I had already been last week. There were still alot of areas/places of interest however that i really did still want to see & do so I had my plan.
First stop Boyce Thompson Arboretum. Beautiful!
I took a dual sport route to and across this cool dam. I'm pretty sure I recognised it as the damn in the movie
"The Mexican" with Salma Hayak & Brad Pitt.
This pic I took for Lily she loves frosty. See my new Givi tailcase?
Right! Later today for sure.
Hey Steve wanna meet me In Baja? San Filipe. But be care ful not to crack a case ok, you know it;'s hard core riding down there!
Went to the Chiricahua National Park. Spectacular rock formations.:eek1 Got there too late plus there was ~ 4-8 inches of new snow. Amazing trails here. I'll come back again tommorrow.
:huh :huh :huh :huh :huh :huh :huh :huh :huh :huh :huh
Met Paul out on his annual tour out of Florida. Cool!
Going back tommorrow for the "Heart of Rocks" Trail. More like "Spirits having Flown". Don't miss it. Pics will be Incredible.:eek2
