I always meant to show you more of the good roads. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and you'll have to show me where the good routes are.

Ditto on Capitol. Very good group of guys working there and the owner ( Dave ) is an awesome guy. Don't wait too long on dropping it off. He starts to get real busy with regular customer work by end of January.

You can't go wrong with them though.

Thanks for that. I've stuck my head in the door a couple of times. Seemed really friendly. I'll give them a call.

Here is a few shots of ice riding from last Sunday out at StMalo. Probably had about 60 bikes out.

This one is me riding my buds 2007 YZ250 stroke in a fast left hand sweeper

serious traction from the $700/pair Fredette Ice Race Tires on my sons YZ450

the next 2 are getting by the brand new Husky form SAR (they broke it in on the track that day)

the fast left hander leads out to this 100+ km/h straight

the odd incident here and there

Mark, looks like a LOT fun riding on the ice.
I still want to try it out sometime this year if it's all possible but not until after Feb long weekend.

Getting your leg sucked in by the rear wheel(meat saw ) of the bike ahead of you in a corner would not be fun. It happened with the TBay ice racers quite a few years back. Studded tire removed a bit of they riders leg. Inside of the rear fender was red/ skin colored. Another day at the races. It's all about power and traction. A tight track will be about tires in the corners, a big oval will be about motor on the straights. All very cool none the less.

Hmmm I did a Yellowstone trip on my KLR and never did any mods outside of some additional seat padding.

Also, someone has stolen my nice 250 piece socket set from my garage so any work on the bike has come to a grinding stop :cry
I've lost the will to wrench.

the only mechanical things I did to mine were the tensioner(doohickey), blue loctited all the bolts, dialelectric grease on the connectors, took apart the suspension (front and rear) and put good synthetic grease in. Removed the sidestand switch as well.

Had to rebuild the rear shock once, but it was pretty easy.

    Hey Mel,
    A while back,
I put up an itemized list of a bunch of things to look at, for your long distance KLR ride.
Go back, find the post, then Google search anything you missed.

    Cheers, Brian
