So, I know it's snowing and cold :vardy and generally un-Springlike at the moment (at least it is here), but this weekend is forecast to be nicer. I'm planning on heading up to Fourmile (north side) to ride and camp (PM for location) this weekend (Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon).

I'll probably be bringing an unplated bike only, but there are tons of great routes up there, everything from wide dirt roads to deep sand and tricky trails. You can do some on a big bike but a short bike will be more fun. :ricky

Weather permitting; cool temps are expected but a lot of snow on the ground would be a no-go. The FS site indicates that all of the gates are open, and Ramz's thread indicates that it's ridable with the occasional spots of mud and snow. :thumb

it's snowing in BV right now, but no big accumulation and any recent snowfall has been melting off with afternoon temps. I'd be happy to go snoop out 4mile for you on friday and get you an update (feel free to shoot me a pm reminder to leave work and go ride).

Also, there's a really good band playing at the Palate on saturday night - worth checking out your up here - https://www.facebook.com/events/506832862685328/

I'd love a status update too - I'm going to head that way on Sunday if it's rideable. I usually start from Mushroom Gulch, but if it is still slick up top, we'll launch from Johnsons.

I didn't have too much time to head high up, but I did some miles on the lower stuff... pretty much bone dry with the occasional slightly dark spot on the dirt from a bit of moisture. Not dusty at all. Quite a few animal carcases. Good fun.

I'm sure you could get up higher and find some snow but there are lots of dry options. With temps in the low 50's being called for sat/sun, I think fourmile is a great early season option for this weekend. Have fun out there!

SpecialEddie and I will be riding tomorrow at about 10AM - on a KTM smoker and a CRF250X. We'll look for ya if we cross paths. I'll be wearing this helmet:

Excellent. Where are you planning to unload? My campsite has plenty of room and is just to the right when you get to the top of 305 (coming from 24).

Yes. I like it. Even down into the low 20s and high teens, I'm still warm enough with a single-digits sleeping bag.

I moved it this morning to take some slack out, it will be even better tonight.

Cool. I'll probably be out riding, but I'll be sure to check back at the site around 10 or so to meet up.

Does this mean you sold the truck top tent?

I still have the roof tent. But I'm looking forward to more motorcycle trips this year, so I wanted to break out the hammock and give it a whirl. Far better than a ground tent for me, and it should be great in warmer weather as it's easy to set it up to catch a breeze.
