Back in April I bought the bike I call the FrankenBeezer, a BSA 650 unit twin in a Yamaha XS500 frame. Always wanted a Britbike and for well less than a grand, I figured I could ride it as is or find actual BSA parts over time and rebuild it as a real BSA, but a funny thing happened along the way. I started changing stuff around, feeling a freedom that I would not feel if this bike were a "real" BSA, or a well restored bike. I can gi in any number of directions, thus far I have been changing small stuff but it's getting a makeover and I'm not 100% sure what the final V3.0 bike will be. This is V1.0, as bought in April. I wanted something a bit brighter so I went for V1.1, paint only. The rear fender was sticking out too far and it's ugly, not surprising as it's actually the inner structural item, never meant to see the light of day. So I bobbed the rear fender, V1.2 That was all well and good, until I found some interesting Harley parts, pipes and a seat, cheap, and then took off the front fender. I call this one V2.0. And then this strange thing called "winter" descended upon the Northland and I felt the urge to work on it some more. I was going to refine things a bit, and then it hit me like an orphaned set of Ducati clip-ons, that I just happened to have laying around from my other project bike. I swapped bars from Ducati to FrankenBeezer and liked both results...and now I have a couple different ways to go. Some quality time with fiberglass (it better be quality time becuase I'm pretty sure the fumes took a couple years off my life) yielded this result, a nice cafe style. But I also had another fender I'd made hanging up, so I tried this combo. It makes a bitchin little bobber too. I'm going to build both rear ends so I can swap them as the mood strikes, but I'd like to enter the FB in the spring bike show in Anchorage, and much like the Highlander, "There can be only one". So what do I enter? V3.0 Cafe? V2.9 Bobber?
