    thanks guys.

This season will be a test. See what it needs to make just about right.
One thing that I def. need to address is that damn low seat.
I have 1/3/4 peg lowering kits, and I still feel like a bear on a bicycle in a circus.

I have a buddy's DL 1000 in the garage (busa front end swap etc etc..) sitting there. MIght steal that seat, it is higher by at least another inch.

You may try reshaping the foam, rather adding material. The only thing you would have to re-upholster to compensate for the added material.

The 1K Strom seat is 1" taller, also there is a factory tall touring seat, which is supposed to be 1" taller than the liter bike's seat. (If you want to try to find used rather than making something.):deal

yep, I have a dl1000 in my garage that I stole the seat from, much better setup, and freedom of movement.

    will go that route

    Hi Greg -

I read your build blog and noticed the replacement of a leaky oil cooler hose. I have a minor leak that results in pretty bad oil staining along the lower left side of the engine cases, getting higher further back. I thought it was the ignition-side case cover gasket, but after thorough cleaning and monitoring it seems to originate lower and closer to the middle of the engone, somewhere in that maze of oil lines, cooler, etc. I've checked all the banjo fittings and other fasteners, and nothing seems loose. I've also done a few oil changes since this started and it's not the filter. Did you actually have a damaged hose? My bike hasn't been in any accidents bit has seen a lot of miles and some dirt/gravel (DL650 without any sump guard or skid plate) so I suppose there could be a cut line ... Mine goes from clean to pretty gross over about 2-3 thousand miles, so it's been easier to clean than to fix :)

    Thanks - dman

clean the engine good, take for a short ride.
run your finger, every so often, check for a shiney spot on your finger.
seeps donot appear easily, but when working on aircraft with a 3000psi hydraulic system i found this method best. now for your problem-donot do this when hot, wait between rides, you will find the seep.
also these case bolts have very little torque applied
main side covers take only 7 ft/lbs,WP 4.5 NM.
