That is the cleanest looking ADV bike I have seen on an RR. I like the pictures of the islands. I've driven by and always wanted to see them up close.

    Day 3

On the campsite in Zadar there was a old Transalp 600 with a german registration. The guy came over and started to talk to me and we soon discovered that we had the same attitude about touring with the bike. He had arrived a day earlier than me and said I should check out the hinterland on Zadar, it would be worth a ride and very little traffic.
I took his advice and went there after I had a quick sightseeing of Zadar. I wanted to sit down in one of the nice Cafes in the narrow alleys of Zadar and by coincidence met Siggi (as he is called) again, sitting at the Cafe I had choosen. Obviously we also had the same taste of palces and I was soon to discover the meaning of the word "soulmate.":D

Now, some cineastic fans, especially the western fans may recognize this gorge.
It was used as bakground for the Old Surehand and Winnetou films.
to be precise it was used in the film "Flaming Frontier"
or for the german speaking click

They have a sign at the spot and you can read all about the making of the film and .....

...what made this spot so special was...... there is no sign to it, nor a proper road leading to it. I only knew it was there because, Siggi was there the day before.
And he only knew about it because a local guy told him to leave the main road after a few meters and follow his intuition and he will find a nice spot...
After leaving the main road you find a gravel road that seems to start out of nowhere and leads you to the top of the canyon.

...I had to go through that one, just couldnt avoid it..... (so much for the cleanest ADV bike:lol3)

    Day 4

During a meal :yum I had with Siggi on the evening of day 3, he asked me if I would mind him joining me, since he didn't have a real plan and the route I had in mind appealed to him.
I didn't mind at all and was happy to have someone to share the trip.:freaky

We decided to go south to Dubrovnik, half way on the highway and the rest on the coastal road.

Since I had a good sleep :snore and didn't get out of bed as early as him, Siggi went off a hour before me.
We agreed to meet somewhere on the way or latest at the campsite, that was recommended to us by some German hikers.:deal
This loose connection we had was great. Each of us could go as fast as one wanted or stop to make picture without the other one needing to stop or wait. :thumb

Normally I don't like going on highways, I get the feeling of missing something, but this time it was great.
The best highway I´ve ever been on.
Rather new, next to no traffic, perfect tarmac, no potholes, coffee stops every 20-50km and most important - no boring sound barriers left or right but pure nature and great scenery.:clap

Feeling great on the road I got carried away and didnt pay attention to my GPS, so I went down the highway - until it finished.....:huh

I should have taken the exit about 50km earlier:evil... so what - make the best of it..:ricky.

    ....so I did...

    ...just beautiful..........the bike :D

On your way to Dubrovnik you have to transit through 15km of Bosnia & Herzegovina. The only strip of coast they have.

The only town there is Neum and looks like a ski resort in the alps. Not the nicest town I've seen.:puke1

I thought I might send Siggi a message and ask if he'd already pitched his tent. I found out that he was about an hour behind me - of course I was the one off course....:lol3

Pics are gorgeous and are all there.. sometimes when you're using a network computer, the network blocks pictures linked to "unapproved" sites. But rest assured, we are enjoying your ride and sunny pics :thumb

    Day 6...

We decided to go to Monenegro via Bosnia & Herzegovina because right after the little border there was a road that looked rather interessting.
As we were to find out, a rather heavly graveled road which was not the type of road you want to go when you have street tires on your bike and your not a vey skilled off-roader.

..on our way to the road through Bosnia&Herzegovina to the Montenegrin boarder...

    ...and this in real live...

    ...very promising...

...but after the T-junction it turned to gravel, the soft sort of gravel - when you walk on it you sink in a inch....

My bike wasnt very pleased with the gravel and took a narcoleptic fit....

... this was after the fit and...

...this after Doc McTie-wrap had come to fix it...

...nothing serious but I was ready for some medication...

We opted against the road and went back a few miles to get on with the tour...

    Your right!
You cant find it on Google maps or lets but it that way: Google maps knows its not passable...
The maps on Google are more up to date than Bing and BaseCamp.
GM knows about the new road coming from BiH to MNE and Bing an BC still have the old road
