    Day 7...

Our first night in Montenegro ended with a competition between a cock crowing and a massive dog barking at 5 a.m.:huh :shoot:2guns:gun2
We met a mountain guide, who lives not far from me in Austria and he told us about this road through the Skadar Lake National Park.
The way he talked aboute the route was so intriguing - we had to take that road...

    Day 8...

We stayed the night in the National Park for a very low price: 3€
But we discovered there were no showers and the old style toiletts.
For 11€ we could have rented a room with real toiletts and a shower....
    ...you always know better afterwards....

After 8hrs of sleep in total silence I was ready for action at 0600h and went for some sunrise photos.

... the beginning of the Tara canyon...

a few words to the Tara ....
The Tara canyon is the second longest canyon in the world, so they say. Grand Canyon being the longest...
When you read that over and over again you get very excited about this gorge.
I have seen a few canyons across the world and excpeted to see something like the "Grand Canyon du Verdon" in France, which is quite something for motorbikers.

But unfortunatly I was rather disapointed about this canyon. Its more like a narrow valley than a canyon.
I expect a canyon to have walls rising vertically into the sky etc.

    Day 9...

We knew that this day would be our last one together, since Siggi wanted to be home in 2 days. I had some time left and would stay in this fantasic region to enjoy the fabulous weather.

We wanted to go up the peninsula of Peljesac and take a ferry east to the mainland. When we arrived at the ferry station we couldn buy any tickets because the ship was full. We had 5 minutes to get on the boat but no way they would let us.
Even some people that bought tickets 30min before, weren't allowed on the ferry and had to got all the way back, as we had to do.....:eek1

Thanks Siggi for being such a good riding partner and for the fun we had. I´m sure there are some more roads for us to discover!:ricky:beer:dg

I went to the little town of Trogir. A wonderful town where I treated myself with a 4* apparent and a garage for the bike.:deal
Trogir is a paradise for photographers. Its built like a maze and behind every corner there is something new to discover.

    Hi panzerrocket!

I was only two days in Montenegro - but there is so much more to see there. I´m pretty sure to go there again next year, maybe including a bit more of Bosnia & Herzegovina and even Albania. :deal
That region is so interesting and unknown its always worth going there...:clap

    Day 10...

I used the day to stroll through Trogir and have a look at Split. Both cities have little alleys like a maze, but Split cant put up with Trogir. Split is a wonderful city but hasnt got the atmosphere of Trogir. If your into photography you will love both cities.
    I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

I´ll let the pictures speak for themself...

I fell in love with the southern part of Croatia and Montenegro. The Campsites were not that bad, its just a pity that they dont invest in a bit more modern sanitary standard. This would make Montenegro an even more pleasant holiday destination for the camping biker. As I said and you definetly know: Montenegro has so much to offer!
And once the ice is broken between the Montenegrin and foreigner you get to know their hospitality.

Maybe we can meet when I get back down there next year or so....:evil

    Day 11...

After leaving Trogir I decided to visit the waterfalls of Krka. For some reason I didn't find the route I intended to go but found a small road going the same direction. This was a lovely road with new tarmac and no traffic.
I really had to check my Sat-Nav a few time to be sure I wasnt going somewhere else in this remote area.

    Day 12...

Sorry for the dely, folks. I´ve been very busy with work! ;-(

Where were we...ah yes. Leaving the Croatian coast going home...

I decided to go through the valley of Soca

A lovely valley with wonderful landscape. In the north you can either go left over the Vrsic saddle or straight ahead over the Predil pass.
Since the weather wasn't to promising and I´ve gone over the Vrsic more often than the Predil, I opted for the last.
But before going up the pass I went up the Mangart - a fantasic route not a lot of people know of....

...as I said the weather wasnt to promising....

The route to the Mangart is a dead end with a ring road at the top. At the highest point you can park and walk to a clif where you can enjoy a magnificent view.
But today I didnt even think about stopping because you could not even see further than the next 10 meters. So I went round the ring road and headed down again.
