There are quite a few ADV riders from India on this forum. To plan rides, you need to do a search on this site, there's been a couple of reports of rides into Iran from England and from Turkey. Plus, lots of riding in India. Moving this to the Regional Forums: Asia / Oz/ Kiwiland and see what others have to say.

This may not help with your query, but a (girl) friend bought a 350 Enfield in India about 10 years ago and rode it to Denmark (19,000 km) with her bloke of the time (he on his bike). Bike never missed a beat and when I asked about Iran & Turkey she said "no problem". But then she is that sort. I met her when I was flying a plane from Sydney to Darwin to meet up with some *other* Danish friends who were travelling around the world in a 12 metre yacht (4 adults 3 kids)... We met via email (she was to join the yacht for the Asia leg) and she jumped into our plane at Tennant Creek, having got there from Alice by road train - and no query as to whether I could fly or not! Within half an hour she was flying it herself and flew the leg from Borraloola to Darwin (in Borraloola we ate the BEST barra ever to jump into a frying pan!)

She earned my respect - big time. Some people can do these things easily - others can only dream...

She is at the moment a school teacher on a small island off the south western coast of Denmark. I would ask her to offer some advice, but she struggles badly with written English...

You should check to see if you'll have any border troubles at Iran. Contact an Iranian consulate as soon as you can. You'll likely have to apply for visas well ahead of your trip, like 6 months or more. Looks like a fun trip you're planning, though.
