We met the group of schoolboys from Kandalaksha city. They tend monuments in the tundra - wash it, renew inscriptions, and etc...

The inscription says: "Traveller, stop! Worship to the grave of warriors of 113 squadron of the North Fleet. Eternal memory to men perished in the course of battles for the fatherland."

It is the barrel of the gun, that has been removed from the battle ship and has been set on the ground to fire. 38 stars on the barrel means that 38 German ships were destroyed by shots from this gun.

The village of fishermen. They catch salmons and Kamchatkan crabs. Crabs were bringed from Kamchatka in 1960, and now there are a lot of crabs.

The fisherman itself. It`s a fragment of a whale`s scull on the first foreground.

Than the air temperature came down to +4* Celsius, and our apparel was wet. So we activate the vodka power and set up our tents:slurp:slurp:slurp

    We got out to asfalt.

Our biological clocks made mistakes, so we slept at "day" and rode at "night" - it was a daylight every time because of the polar day. We passed through Murmansk - our friends had slept.

We needed to move to the normal regimen. We took a counsel between us and prefer to go further instead of to get more sleep. It was the mistake.

I had slept when I rode. I had awoke, when my bike hit a large stone on the side of the road.

    The front wheel were damaged.

We changed the tube, but the tyre itself had the hole. So we went to Polar Circle to pick up my old tyre.

That was the day of meetings.

We had met our friend Anton from Moscow with his Ural near Kondopoga in Karelia.

Than we arrived Petrozavodsk city and stayed in the garage of our friends.

Ivan whispers something to the local wishmaker:D

Than we bought tickets to the boat to Kizhy island.

Kizhy is famous with it`s wooden churches.

The traditional Russian house. It`s the place to work in winter times at the left - "seni" in Russian:

Another house. As the Russian prowerb says, the house without a balcony is like a man without a beard:D

The fence to prevent crops from cattles:

The windmill. It stays on one stone for easily turning:

And this is the Karelian (not Russian) house:

There were musicians with traditional Karelian music instruments inside:

Petrozavodsk were laid by Peter the Great. The monument about this:

Than we said goodbye to our local friends and finaly rode back to the Moscow city.

Fantastic RR report. I have always wanted to ride across Russia. For a non-Russian, are there many issues with such an adventure? Do we need to have a Russian accompanying us? Is it possible to do so without speaking the language? Is there still many military check-stops?

Sorry if some of the questions seem obvious. Most of us in the West just don't know, but some of us like myself want to explore your beautiful country.

    Cheers!
