Has anyone tried to repair just the rubber hose section of an 81' G/S intake manifold? Just trying to be frugal or cheap (depends). Part numbers #11711337165 and 166. Thanks

Those are the 2 air injection hoses for the bogus emissions junk that BMW added in 1981.
99 percent of the BMW airhead world removes the system, as it can be detrimental to your valves and who knows what else in side your engine.
the parts needed cost less than $10.00 from BMW.

Most people ditch that secondary air system and plug the holes... there is some information saying that system adds the exhaust valve temp and causes wear.

Here is a link to the system plugging how-to:

That said, if you want a nice set, I have three complete ones that I took off of airhead and would be happy to send to you for the cost of postage! (the haed to carb tubes and valve-things)

Just plugged Beater's RT the other day and he actually got the fittings from our local Ace hardware!!! 16mm plugs or just weld a ball bearing on the end of the fitting!

I will probably take you up on the offer and TIG a ball bearing and plug it. Will be back in town next weekend and be back in touch.

for a neater less botched approach use oil pan drain plugs from a R1150RS. If you start cobbling things together it won't be long till you have a POS looking bike w/ bailing wire and duct tape.
