There is quite a lot of information on the web on how to get non-BMW parts for routine servicing and maintenance. This is great for avoiding getting ripped off by BMW, but you do have to trowel through a lot of posts to find them.
I started to pull together a spreadsheet to capture it all, but there's plenty of gaps and possibly some errors. So, I was thinking, would it be possible to pull this together as a combined effort using this forum. Ive pasted my spreadsheet straight into this post below, but of course the column formatting isn't retained. It doesnt seem possible to attach a spreadsheet here either? Maybe something other then XLS?

Any thoughts people? Good idea, stupid idea, cant be done, already done?

    Cheers
    Rob

    So what's still missing?

    - alternate source for rear sprocket
    - Sump plug crush washer specification
    - Oil filter cover O-ring specification
    - Fuel pump replacement options
    - ???

You should also include Stefan Sheffelmeier's stuff:
    http://www.scheffelmeier-metall.de/

In particular he has front and rear sprockets and stainless steel spacers (to replace the OEM aluminum ones).

    Yep, I'll add that

What size radiator hose is it?

Specification/brand for the heat resistant hose that has been discussed previously? (due to close proximity to header pipe

In Australia"Chain gang" make front and rear sprockets for the xc. I have both on at the moment in the standard 15/47 combo. I havent had them for long enough to vouch for them but others have had a good run and reckon twice the life of oem rear sprockets.

Interesting, I just ordered sprockets and chain from Stefan for about $230 delivered. BMW quoted about $380
I presume Chaingang will be somewhere in the middle?

The shifting lever from a Yamaha WR400/450F fits perfectly (and stands a bit wider from the engine case).

I noticed that this and other parts list specify standard clearance wheel bearings and not the c3 ones. Why would BMW supply c3 bearings in the xc hubs?

Muddler kindly offered the existing spreadsheet for sharing with all interested inmates and this is my attempt to make it visible from the Google Docs, where is now located for public sharing. Please pm me for any correction or additions. Thanks.

Note: I've split the original spreadsheet in 3 pages: Engine, Wheels, Body, Torque (see links at the bottom)

Anyone know if there are compatible throttle tubes? Looks like we can only purchase the entire twist grip through BMW. I just need the plastic tube.
