Thanks Vampir, I will eventually catch up on your excellent report but I'm finding it very hard to read current trips as you might imagine. Have fun with your family ride it sounds great.

All that really matters is that you are where you need to be, even if that at some point contradicted where you wanted to be. I truly hope that now you know! Side note: I still don't, and am running out of time. Oh well... :)

Me too Ken, I will follow along but as I said to Vampir it will take awhile before I can do so. I love what you are doing and how many trials you've gone through so far and you keep riding on and getting things done while enjoying the trip. Hats off amigo!

    Hey friend
I might be in Mexico for quite some time so if you decide to give it another go, then look me up.

And remember. ..you still accomplished what many can only dream of.

    Cheers mate

PS.....Ludwig has plenty of standbys so don't sweat it. Our spots are already filled.

The most important thing in the world is your own personal wellbeing, OC. You did what was right for YOU. Good on ya!

Great to hear you are back home OC. If you are interested in small rides I have one coming up. I go to a bike rally in Puerto Peñasco every year. This year I am leaving November 10 and returning the 13th. Lots of music and drinking. I stay away from the drinking but do a lot of people watching, its relaxing. Plus the beach is there waiting, where I spend lots of time swimming.

Hi Ruben, I'm doing ok but kinda stir crazy as I don't have much planned for my retirement other than riding so I need a bit of refocusing. How is life in Az? Off for the holiday weekend? I will be riding again but not sure where I'll be heading.

I want to head to Mazatlan for a week the first week of January. I have family in Culiacan, so I'm leaning towards doing that.

I'm thinking of retirement next summer but I'm afraid I will be bored. You can only ride so much. I am heading to Alaska though in June. I'll be in Cancun with my wife and friends from June 1-7. And want to head out to Alaska on the 8th or 9th. My wife doesn't like to travel on the bike. so I may fly her and have her meet me in Fairbanks or Anchorage for a few days.

I always figured it depended on your job and how you react to it. In my line of work I felt like it was killing me with stress and I'd rather take the boredom than the stress. Talking to you it seems you love what you do and so you have a different view of retirement than I do, mine is really to escape the grind and beat down I was suffering from. Others in my same line of work didn't seem to mind it like I did so they stay on and thrive where I can't. Stupid brain!

Sounds like you have some good travel plans lined up but not much of a break between Cancun and heading out to Alaska. I may head to Canada in the summer but not sure where yet.

Let me know if you want to travel with me and we can split up where ever you choose to head towards once we get into Canada. Just a thought!! Have a great day my friend.

Hey Otter! I can't believe I just found this thread. I hope that you are doing well and have moved passed whatever it was you were battling inside. I just wanted to comment on how excited i was for you making the trip on the V7. I too am about to embark on the same journey on my V7 Stornello. Good luck and I hope you are back on the bike enjoying the ride. Cheers!

Hey mototreking! Quite a surprise to see a new reply to my road report. Thanks for asking and I'm doing fine these days, riding my road and mountain bikes quite a bit. I actually had hoped to give the trip another go this year but yet another eye surgery and followup appointments all fell right into the window for travel so I'm looking at 2018 for another trip. I hope you are planning to do a ride report about your trip and you know I'll be following along.

Hey buddy, ya its funny someone rejuevenated your thread but its cool.
Sorry to hear about the medical issues, hope it all works out well.

PS.... if I may make a suggestion about another trip,... maybe just do a ride into Mexico and get a feel for long distance adventure. Trust me, there's alot of riding to do in MX haha

See how it goes and you may want to go further. But don't book the Stahlratte and put unnecessary presure on yourself.

    food for thought

Yep I'm in on that plan, I've already done another trip into Mexico trying to get to Copper Canyon but had snow issues and bailed, once again traveling blues struck but I am trying. I have changed my packing setup a bit and done some other things as well so if I can get going I'll cover them in a ride report.

It is just a bummer that my medical appointments seem to come one month apart making travel a bit difficult but I think I can try another trip into Mexico in November/December time frame. No worries about the eye thing, it is just a few touchups after getting a corneal transplant and lens replacements but I can now see without coke bottle glasses and that is fantastic.

Also are you every leaving Mexico Lol, seems we have opposite problems, I struggle to stay in Mexico and you struggle to leave! I always read your report btw! Thanks for the post.

Lol ya Mexico has me trapped, but my TVIP ends in 3 weeks, so I am forced by other powers to get out soonish.

Glad you are still following and good luck on your future travels.
