I spoke with a good friend of mine over the weekend, and he told me he was going to sell his brothers bike he had aquired. His step son has been cleaning on it, and removed the carbs, and cleaned them up. Maybe it was having to tilt the motor down to reinstall the carbs, that made him wanna sell it. He said it ran when the carbs came off, but his brother (Stuuuuuupid) ran the brakes in the rear down to the rotors, and seized them. It's Red, and about 30K on it, I think. I'm hoping to go look at it this week and see what condition it's in overall. I think I can get it for $1,200.
What do you guys think? :ear
If Anything, I could put a little in it, put a "Boojumized" clean up on it, and make a grand or two. Anyway, what do you guys think about it? :ear

If it's all there I don't think you can go wrong for $1200 (or more).

BTW, this thread is pretty much useless without pictures.:lol3 Take a few while you're kickin' the tires and post them.

    Good luck!

If you dont want it at that price I will take it! Those bikes are relativley hard to find (in any kind of original condition) and there is a pretty good demand for them. Buy the thing!

Daaaaaaaaaamn! 4 Bikes in the Garage? :huh :lol3 :dunno :scratch
I've always LOVED those bikes, but all the pieces in the bank of Carbs is enough to scare the Be-Jesus out of me :yikes It's sooooooo tempting, as I just got my Tax Moo-Lah back, and it covers the price of the bike. I'll go look at it in the next few days, as I'm curious as to the condition of the overall bike. I can't take it,............I'm calling him right now, to see when he can meet me! :lol3 OK,...........Today after work it IS!!!!! :lol3  I'll take a few pics, and try to post um in the next day or so.

    Buy It!

The carbs can be intimidating, but only 50% more than a CB900F from the same era.:D

I'd be interested, but I swore a couple years ago 2 cylinders was the max I was ever gonna have on a bike again.

4 bikes in the garage, WTF? That's just a good start!

Booj, CBX's are sweet! I wouldn't recommend buying it to make money on it, because you probably won't. If it's red, it's probably not the touring package(which are better looking IMHO) Make sure the pipes are in good shape, they rot from the inside and are $$$$$:eek1 to replace if you can even find them. The candy red fades quickly in the sun, so a repaint may be in order. Luckily, TIM's CBX has almost all the parts you'd need for a resto/refurb but it will be pricey and time consuming.

Yep! dlrides (Don) has pointed out the Pipes $$$$ concern. At first I thought, man I could make some money on this one, but a rare thing happened, I thought some more. IF I buy this bike, It will be a work in progress for a few years. My other bikes are pretty much where I want them, after the winters service is complete. This may turn into my "Pet Project"......who knows.
I'll pay close attention to the exhaust pipes, overall paint quality, rust, what electrics work, seat, speed-o, tach, shocks, etc. Thanks Notarex!!!!:clap

Even if you buy it to flip it, they're a collectors item now, you can't go wrong really. Think a buddy of mine is looking for one, as a matter of fact.

Damn! :baldy :baldy I get on ADVrider, and look at the thread, and I feel good about going to look at it today. Get away from this site, and I think, "Shit, You don't need 4 motorcycles in the garage". I'm not being a responsible adult with this money! Sheeeeez! at least I'll go and look at it in a few hours, and maybe that will settle my nerves, or maybe jumble them to all hell............:lol3 :lol3

I think in terms of complexity, a CBX is like a CB750 with two extra cylinders. I have two of these and they are not that complicated to get and keep running. The big question is do you want to "restore" it. Then you are talking about availability of the original parts and their cost. :eek1:eek1

Honda is still making the pipes for the 750's....maybe they will start making them for the CBX's again.

Good luck! These old Honda's are going up rapidly in value. Sounds like a good investment/ride to me.
