Thanks for the update, Frank.
More importantly though, you wouldn't happen to know why one of the vessels is so close to Andover, would you?
Didn't you say that the ship shape icon stands for inbound tankers heading for Bayonne??
Hey Adam !
The red square ones are anchored off Sandy Hook.
just a quick note. Thanks to the guys that made it out last night. I had an absolute blast, and I hope we threw a good party.
The motorcycles went over huge and everyone raved about how cool those pictures will be. can't wait to see them!
it was all a great sucess!
Kinda late to the party here, but if any of you inmates in Sussex/Warren still without power need a place to do some laundry, warm up a bit, charge your phone, etc, give me a shout via PM.
Still recovering from multible bee stings.(I'm alleragic). I think my pics didn't come out and my memory after that is a little fuzzy.. Somehow I ended up with a sprocket in my pocket.
I would consider that a major success then, Iron! Had a house full last night. But some friends had gotten us a room to get away tonight!
Familiar to some taggers...... I will let you know tomorrow. No reason for you guys to think it is funny to bug me tonight
I had a dream last night, that the power came back..
You might think I'm joking, but I really had a dream it was back!
All seriousness, week after hit of Sandy... Some roads are still closed in Clifton, still no power, nor heat (gas furnace setup, but needs juice to run it).
Thank God for the generator and some spliced extension cord tricks, we can stay warm, take a shower, even watch tv.
Luckily, the storm had no major impact on our family..
(not counting that day when I had to step out to refuel the generator, turn my back away from the garage door, when the door close itself in a stealth mode! I was throwing my T-shirt at the window, trying to get kids attention )
...what's the situation in your neck of the woods??
Well. The storm turned our roads into hot garbage. People could not even clear their our driveways since most trees had power lines with them. Power is coming back in most places. I was out for four days. The wood stove was clutch, as was filling the tub with water so we could flush the toilet. The conservatory had power Friday morning so the wedding went well without having to rent a shit load of generators. Win. The Andover inn got power, but no water. So the night of my wedding we had 8 people staying at my house, some sleeping on air mattresses borrowed from oems. It was actually really nice to be really great to stay up hearing stories about everyone's version of the night. But some friends chipped in and got us a night away in a nice B&B for a very restful night. Some taggers may recognize the joint....
A quick thanks to you guys who made it. People are still raving about how the night ended with motorcycles on the dance floor!
No question that LED camping headlights and reading lights have been very handy after a week without electricity. Luckily the son even found one on our street last night!
wtf were you thinking?? waiting for the flash to go off? :huh
Doc.., you should know better..
(NOT for the faint of heart !!!)
Nothing better than motorcycles inside a venue.
pictures came out a little f-ed up
I just loved this one.
I had no idea about the big day! Congrats to the newlyweds!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Scareraven.
thanks guys, for the record Iron, there is a reason for the F'ed up pics, you were!!!!!
Wednesday, 11/7, I'll be traveling from CT to VA toting my mother in law. My usual route is as follows:
Over Tappan Zee Bridge
Garden State Parkway S
NJ TPKE S to end
Cross bridge into Deleware
Is there gas along the Parkway and Turnpike?
It's a MA plated car with the last digit being 2. I understand that on this, an odd day, there are some stations where I will not be allowed to buy gas. At what point southbound will I no longer have this impediment?
Where gas exists and I can legally buy it, are there long lines? Drama?
I expect there will be many wiz breaks...she's 83. Are the rest areas functioning?
Mapquest says going way around to the west and joining 81S will cost me an extra 1.3 hours. Is it worth doing that?
Your local knowledge and snide comments are appreciated.
Your suggestions on laisons with mom inlaw will be rewarded with a picture of her. You really don't want that!:eek1
you have gas in both major roads, but you will have to seat on line
The fuel rationing is in for Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Monmouth, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.
The farther south you go the better. The farther away from the ocean coast the better.
The Parkway and Turnpike seems to be getting gas pretty regularly and the state police are raking in the overtime manning the stations. But there may be mile long waiting lines, so if you need gas dont wait till you are really low.
Make sure you are in the right county because I know here in Morris and Passaic County people are getting into fist fights and tattling on people with off plates or line cutting Job security for me but really annoying.
When I went down to check the in-laws house in Toms River the rest areas were about 50/50 on teh Parkway. My 65 year old mother in law just popped a squat in the woods. But she is a rough Eastern European transplant.
My comments bolded
Where there have been long gas lines, have they clogged the through traffic lanes?
