I just checked and it turns out I have an official (as defined by The Antique Motorcycle Club of America ) vintage motorcycle. Well, actually two :lol3

Vintage has never tasted this good. Still feels pretty modern- I think the quality suspension, V4 motor characteristics, 16" front wheel, and typically excellent Honda human-machine interface feel make it that way.

Looks are subjective of course; but I think it's a very good looking bike.

This is my 3rd VF1000F, and my 9th VF/VFR. And the other one should be back on the road "any day now" :lol3

My knees appreciate the extra 1# legroom.

Didn't bother me with my first one, which I sold about 20 years ago. The pegs probably grew higher with age. :lol3

Push-starting that vintage bike isn't good for the knees either! Good idea to take it on a club ride so you can have younger folks with you to push and loan batteries!:-)

On another note, great home-coming crowd of 22,000 for the UNH-Rhode Island football game yesterday. 28 to 14 UNH. Great day for tailgating as well:

And you're a better man for it; so stop complaining.:lol3

BTW- I think I still owe you, Duane(?) and Joe(?) a dinner for that effort.

BTW2-watch how you talk about Honda's classic big trailie.

BTW3- in a related piece of news, the engine from that bike is part of a collection of parts sufficient to make a complete TransAlp that's for sale by a friend.

You should buy it- give you something to do over the winter. 2 times the hp of the WR and only twice as heavy :lol3

I LOVED those things when they were new. Put a deposit on one once at the Honda shop in Summit, and the night before I was going to pick it up an 80 year old woman with a 3 year expired license plowed into my parked Firebird causing me to be a man without a means to drive back and forth to work with winter right around the corner.

How are parts for them? A friend of mine just picked up an '82 Nighthawk 650 and the same guy is selling a Nighthawk S.

Generally good, though there are some parts that are only available used.

I almost picked up a later Nighthawk S but held off a couple of days and saw the VF come up locally.

Was too time constrained to do the club ride today; so tooled around and went over to Van Sant for lunch.

Amazing that this could take off with such a slow turning propeller :lol3
