Dropped my trusted and beloved Garmin 550 on a hard floor, and to my surprise it worked perfectly normally -- for about an hour, then while I was adding a 'via point' to my existing route, the screen shut down and I've yet to see any light whatsoever from the unit.

I tried taking the battery out for an hour, put it back in with no action from the zumo. Likewise connecting it to its battery charger, and same-samie with connecting it to my computer. Tried pressing the lower right hand corner of the touch screen while messing with the power button with a variety of timing, but no soap.

This 550 has been thousands of miles with me and the loss is tremendous. I assume its a send-in-for-service issue, but I figured I'd ask anyway, any ideas?

At least one reference around here to leaving the GPS connected to the computer via the USB for hours, even overnight and then the unit comes back to life.
    Worth a try.
