Sounds interesting, expecially the ability to have geotagged pictures on your GPS. Nothing on the Garmin site yet. Hopefully we will get more information and pictures soon.

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, announced today the introduction of Garmin BaseCamp – a utility that allows users to plan and manage trips, routes, tracks, and waypoints and transfer them between the computer and applicable Garmin outdoor handheld device.

Notice: "applicable handheld device" make that "cheap" but not their high end Zumo, Nuvi, or GPSMap?

They really need new marketing people to tell software how to help Garmin make more money!

It's not "Applicable handheld device", it's "applicable Garmin outdoor handheld device". It is called "Basecamp" after all so I would assume it's made for the kind of GPS you'd be using when hiking or trekking, a handheld unit.

I just hope it's compatible with the 60CSx and 76CSx units.

If I read it right BaseCamp is PC & Mac based software, kind of MapSource on steroids. Don't know why it would be GPS specific.
