Please keep us in the loop. If it is fixed, I can mark it off on the wiki... another undocumented fix.

It's really intermittent. I went something like 150 miles one day before I saw it happen, and it only did it once. Another day I saw it happen like 6 or 7 times in just 50 miles.

Guess we'll just have to wait to see if anyone running 5.30 gets the "acquiring satellites" message.

Until then, we can only guess that it's fixed; we can't prove it.

Went out and did 125 miles city streets and interstate.
Montana 5.30 CNNA 2014.20. in fast mode.

So far no problems at all.
Did some routing on the fly everything worked great.

As others reported when I did the up to 5.30 on the Montana it changed my shortcut icons.
Easy to fix but still...it changed them to hearts...I guess Garmin loves me.:raabia
I guess only time will tell if all is well with 5.30

Yeah, I had to change ALL of my Shortcuts because they switched Icon's on me. The only reason I could come up with for changing the Icon codes is that they are trying to find consistency between models. Of course that would imply that they intend to "share" shortcuts between models(?).

Or, someone just screwed up and used a different Icon code file... :norton

Oregon 6xx Bug# 46 explains the reason for the icon shift with illustration :)

The reason for icon shift is the same for ALL Garmin GPSr that received firmware updates on 20AUG2013.

The last two upgrades have also changed the content of my shortcuts. I have shortcuts that change out which map I am looking at: TOPO, Fishing Hot Spots, and a highly detailed Colorado Topo. I have had to go back in and fix which were enabled/disabled for both of the last two upgrades.

I have not seen the 'Searching for Satellites' message once in 300 miles of Fast Map Updates.

Since the change to 5.30 switched my shortcuts I need some help. My shortcut for finding places to eat has been changed to intersections and I can't remember how I made those the last time!

Anybody want to re-explain the process? :ear

Setup/shortcuts, select the one to edit, then Edit/icon

It wasn't just the icon that changed, it now starts the find intersection search. It's a different shortcut that I can't find in the shortcut menu to even edit. What's weird is the same type I use for finding fuel was left untouched but since I can't find where that one stored I can't reverse engineer it.

I'll try to post a picture of what they look like.

The Icon you are talking about is not a custom shortcut. It is a WhereTo? app. You put it there by going to Setup->Main Menu->Add->Application->WhereTo?->Intersections

If you do have a custom Shortcut that the Icon has been changed on due to the update, just do the following: Setup->Shortcuts->pick yours->Edit->choose your Icon and back out.

Bingo! I knew it was different from a regular shortcut but couldn't remember exactly how.

Still not sure why it changed though. Where the "Intersection" icon is now is where the "Fuel" icon was before. I initially thought it just changed the icon but it changed it to search for intersection as well.

    Thanks! :clap

I put together a few wallpapers images for the Montana.
If anyone would like them go here to download free.
Not trying to make any money just doing it for the fun of it.

Just click on the picture and then the little arrow bottom right of the page to download.

Remember you need 4 images per set so if you like the one called "Map" then you need all 4 pictures.
Once there are download put them in the folder ---- Garmin/profiles ---on the Montana

Cool...of course if you want to save battery when you are handheld, a black background is best (those pixels are off).
