Unfortunately I've no experience with Kyocera. I've just bought an OTG connector and tried to connect my Montana 600 to my Cat S60. Works seamlessly, I can browse both the internal memory and the SD card in it.

I've had instances where the navigation text stops working, and usually a factory reset cures it for me.

If you do a reset, switch to the Recreation profile first, then shut it down. When you restart it, hold your finger on the screen in the top left until you're asked if you want to reset. Choose Yes, then let it go.

You won't lose any tracks, maps or waypoints, though some of your customisation may need to be redone. Generally a reset is nothing to worry about.

Are you using the Nuvi Dashboard? This is what you should expect with that display.

I've seen this on my Montana before, also. It is a bug somewhere. It can be pretty irritating, especially when you can look at the directions page and see that your route is still good with all it's turns and distances listed. I have found that happens - at least sometimes- when I make my route in City navigator and than switch the map over to OSM. It just doesn't seem to like that too much. In that case I will just stop navigation on the route, choose one map and re start my route in the map set I want and leave it there. Sometimes that doesn't fix it and I'll re set by taking out the battery. Keep in mind that you have to be moving on the route for those directions to come back up- you can't just reset and sit still and expect to see it.

Removing the battery does not reset it in any way.

I will check, but usually run CN for normal driving. I save OSM and Topos for riding.

Automotive Turns in data field were blank - so I think either the map is wrong, or I need to update.

Let us know when you're headed out here. Maybe we can coordinate the camping trip up on OR border with our buddy or ....

Thanks for the hints guys. I will try making sure the map is set to only CN, and probably try the Nuvi dashboard and a reset as something seems really wrong.

Yes, I have a defect 276C which I liked very much, except the poor gps reception. I bought a Monterra when it came out but never liked it, sold it after ome year. I have had the Montana for a week now and used it for mtb riding and it works really well. It is so much better than a smartphone on the bars. It views all small roads and paths even when zoomed out so I am very happy using it to find new roads. A few bugs here and there but it seems to work fine for my purpose. Now I only need a new motorbike to use it on :)

I also have a 276C, but I don't like it much. The buttons are on the wrong side, for a start. I really have no interest in the new 276Cx for the same reason. I much prefer the touchscreen on the Montana.

    It depends.

I have CNNA, CNEUR, etc. Each are different. To which version are you referring?

Okay, we're getting somewhere. That's likely 2017.20, and I know for sure that NA (north america) is at least at 2018.10 now, if not further along. So -- if it's the NA version that you have, you are a few releases behind.

Do you know which mapset (region) you own?

Setting CN map as only map fixed the issue. Also Nuvi mode worked well

I use the Nuvi dashboard most of the time. It's very useful. Did you know clicking the Speed Data field takes you to the Trip Computer? When you're navigating, click the top text to see the Active Route details.

Also, clicking the North arrow takes you to the alternate map display type. So if you're set for North Up map display it'll switch to Track Up map mode, and vice versa...

what are folks using for their map-->advanced setup-->zoom levels?

I like to have map-->advanced setup-->detail=Most, but when zooming out to say .5 mi the map becomes really cluttered with POIs. I haven't been able to find a good balance.

Say you're looking ahead to the days track, nice to zoom out and get a good perspective. I know some folks run two GPSs just for this functionality.

Two gps units? Use profiles instead.

If you're in the profile with the waypoint clutter problem, go to Setup\Profiles and create a new one, call it "Uncluttered" or something similar, and go to Map\Setup Map\Advanced\Zoom Levels\User Waypoints and set them to Off.

Then when you want the uncluttered view, switch to it. Shortcuts make that easier.

Sounds like a good idea so I did just that myself.
