Nice job Jesse!
Looking forward to seeing these designs come into fruition. Best of luck with the endeavor!!!
I just bolted up my Cycra hand guards to my 2011 KTM 250 utilizing Cycra's Solution as the newer triple clamps on the KTM have the rearward facing triple clamp bolts that make traditional clamping impossible.
The mount itself felt quite heavy but I thought a centimeter of aluminum would hopefully resist the torsional twists of crashing. One crash later and i had torsionally twisted the aluminum mount, something I thought impossible, and bent the bolts. Joy.
You're working with a simple, yet purely functional method to removing the shear forces from the handlebar end bolt mount, awesome I'll be getting some sets of those. On the other side of the coin quite an elaborate solution to designing an upper clamp for the dampener. Great to see the efforts being put forth I'll be touching base with you guys when back in the states in a few months.
Best of luck.
Very impressive work! Someone has some skills on the tube as well as the mill. The areas you have identified to upgrade are certainly needing attention. The loads imposed onto the hand guards during a crash are formidable. I assume you have tested your solutions & found them to be improvements or you would not be proceeding with production.
Have you determined pricing yet?
All this is familiar in a sense since I too have spent a considerable amount of time developing new products since retiring from the aerospace world. Developing a product that is buildable for the right price to sell to the public is tricky. Particularly when they may not know why it is better.
And the advantages of patents....that is another story. Spoken bay a man who has several patents.
Anyway, my compliments.
My website...globetrottin.com...Not for business but more for sympathy.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for all the positive feedback and encouragement guys.
Yes, we've got pricing all sorted-out, but would like to wait to share that info until we have parts in-stock, ready to ship. If everything goes as-planned with the anodizing and laser-etching, that should be sometime before the end of next week. Edited my first post to include a general note about pricing though.
great stuff. sign me up for the C-clamp and/or Pinchy mounts.
I hope the prices aren't astronomical. I'm a big fan of USA made though!
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Rob, or RoboBoogie. Thanks so much for all of the positive feedback and support. Just submitted my entry for King of the Motos. This is the kind of riding that I really love, and the kind of abuse that we're designing our parts to take. Not sure I'm up to it, but I know our parts are....
turn the web site up already????
All the anodizing got finished last Friday. Parts are sitting at the laser shop, scheduled to be done at the end of this week. I had a few parts sent my way to check out the colors as a final sign-off, and am very pleased. Take a look!
Working on it, but the website isn't going to go live until next week when we've got the first batch of parts back.
GatosBros R&D Lab
just read the mah deuce thread. Nice work. Good to see craftsmen at work.
Thanks. Just got word that the laser-etching is all done and parts are getting shipped back to us today. Should have pics of the finished products in a few days. Included in this first batch of parts are:
1) universal underbar stabilizer mounts
2) KTM underbar stabilizer mounts
3) c-clamp outer handguard mounts
The pinchy outer handguard mounts are next in line, and we should have those parts finished/available in a few weeks.
Here's a project for you a preload adjuster for the KTM690 R
see this post for some really crappy bluetac prototyping
Good timing. Have actually been talking with Xtrig about adapting those preload adjusters to some other applications. Thanks for the heads-up on the 690's.
Just received an email with a few pics from the laser shop.
Well done Jesse, Rob, Tyler,
Looks like great stuff. Glad to see you are still working on the Deuce Jesse, it has been a while since I went in to check the progress, guess I have some catching up to do.
Best wishes on your venture!
First Class swag / upgrades. Good work! Especially like the idea for the foot pegs. Hopefully you'll have fitment for a couple of my bikes
Spent the weekend working on the GatosBros website, and it's finally up and running. Sort of. We should have products in-stock and ready to ship by Tuesday or Wednesday. So the shopping cart isn't 'live' yet, but please take a look. Also created a facespace page. Do you like us?
The page looks good so far.
Typically Simplisity is what people SAY they are looking for, but without a lot of links it gives off a perfunctory air of insignificance. Not trying to be rude, I am just saying...
Hey could you post up some photos of your parts on bikes? For me, at least, it is helpful to see what I am looking at in place.
The site looks like you are off to a great start! I hope you do really well with it!
Spent 10yrs running a small graphic design studio and we designed/built a lot of websites. Ironically, I can't afford to be my own client, as we've put all our time and money into developing and manufacturing these products. So for now, that little website is about the best we can manage. We'll have pictures of production parts by the end of this week. Videos by next week. Can take pictures of parts that we've been testing on our bikes if you'd like to see anything in particular in the meantime.
