That is a great looking bike. I've heard that the low and mid range torque is better than on the 2nd gen., is that correct? I see them for sale locally at some great prices.

Never rode a Gen2, they are too "sportbikey" for me....Low, and midrange torque, great handling, and ergo's are the best part of Gen1's IMO..

:y0!I've had mine for seven years.

Despite what Gonzodog says about the Gen1, it's a great motorcycle. :hide

Good timing, I may soon be in the market for one of these. Any issues I should look for?

My 2002 was by far the best street bike (for me) I've ever ridden. Comfy, fast, handled great. Rode a Gen2 recently and didn't care for it as much. The Gen 2 was no where near as comfortable.

Sold mine to a friends brother-in-law 7 years ago. Same friend bought it from him 6 months ago for almost nothing. I rode it again for the first time in 7 years just two weeks ago. Still one of the best bikes ever made.

Ok, Gen 1's. Can anyone give me some details regarding the attachment points for the fairing? How is it supported, number of bolt points, etc? TIA.

The front wheel comes straight up when you whack the throttle on the 1>2 upshift. :clap

I have read second gear can be an issue. This was supposedly resolved in 04 with a different cut on the dogs or something like that. Other then a notchy gear box, one of the best bikes out there.

I love these bikes! Just picked this one up yesterday. '02, 10,000 miles, Ivans jet kit, Yoshimura slip-on, Zero Gravity tinted windsreen and a few other minor mods.

I had another '02 blue that had the same mods and I foolishly sold. This one isn't going anywhere.
I feel these bikes are one of the best all-around machines ever produced.

I love 'em, amazing bikes and extremely practical. Almost took one home but ended up liking the 919 better.

I purchased my new '02 FZ-1 in the spring of '02. Installed HyperPro Combi front and rear springs, Factory Pro 1.0 jet kit, Factory Pro advancer, K&N air filter, Ti-Force ti slip-on, Galfer brake lines, and Sargent seat. Of my current 14 bikes the FZ-1 offers the best blend of comfort, acceleration, braking, and suspension. Absolutely zero problems. Still runnin' the OE "GS" brand battery too.
