Welcome. I really enjoy that area. Spent a few years in Wiesbaden and always found myself along the Rhine. St. Gore is a favorite. You chose a great place to set up your "base camp".

I'm here in Colmberg, halfway between Ansbach and Rothenburg odt. Sold my 2008 Wee DL650 recently when I decided to retire from adventure motorbike touring. The preparation and mechanics involved in a trip no longer seem worth the discomfort and bad weather that long roadtrips always involve. From here on out my adventure touring will be done in a small RV with a heater and A/C. I just bought a W800 and do enjoy putzing around on day trips and the occasional weekend jaunts in the German countryside. Once I get a sidecar installed I may even ratchet up for a weeklong trip. Funny, I don't remember getting older and creaky... it just happened one day.

Colmberg is just 40km from my place.
There is a beautiful castle with a good restaurant :dukegirl

And in 2010 I've been there at a motorcycle gathering. Is it still there every year?

We moved from Ireland to Karlsruhe a little over one year ago. We're both riding Honda Transalps and still discovering new routes in the area.

    Hi All,

I'm an American living in Wiesbaden for the next 5 months. I don't have my own bike with me but there seem to be plenty of rentals available. I'm here during the wrong time of year for the best riding but hey, we are ADV riders right? A little cold weather, snow, and ice don't usually stop us. I'd love to meet up with others to go riding or just to grab a beer.

Dear Outdoor-Girl, welcome. The real biker registrations plate ends in october and begins in april. Many others are afraid off salt on the bike. We live about hundret and fifty km from you in the south. Driving a hack, can`t imagine, that you can rent a bike, cause off the salt on the streets. On the other hand, driving now becomes more and more cold and without good clothing, you loose the fun. In the first week off februar, my wife and me are driving three days in the region Freiburg, Basel and Alsace, If we go with two hacks, we give you a place, other thing are a bunch off realy nice people in your neighborhoud, we know them from a charity run every year, it is a school for children with handicap in Hochheim, perhaps they know advrider around. HAPPYYYYYYEEEEESSST New Year to all! Greetings from sunny Malaysia.

Barring any unseen circumstances, I should be buying a second hand bike in Germany soon and would love to make some new friends. Berlin would most likely be my new start up base and I want to ride the late spring & summer to wherever including Iceland :-)

Stay Upright & keep the shining side up.

    Gentlemen, and Ladies,

Prepare yourselves for the triumphant return of yours truly. I left Stuttgart in 2011 and have been trying to get back ever since. I'm retired, but my wife is a Govey; she just finalized a position in Stuttgart. Our move date is In February . We will be hitting the ground and getting set up, our goods should arrive in plenty of time to be ready for the spring. I've downsized my rides and now just have a 2003 Triumph Bonneville, of course that will change once I start to look around (Always room for one more bike).

We will be working at Kelly, so if anybody knows of a place to rent (2 adults, 2 cars, 1 bike and no kids or pets)

    Thanks and see you soon.

Whats this about a motored treff? Do you have any info on it? Is there a website I can check out? I'm very interested in checking it out. I missed motorrad days last year down at Garmish due to work. Was really bummed out about that.

I'm in Wiiesbaden as well. Shoot me a private message if you need help finding somewhere to get a bike or ride. Might be a decent enough day here or there while you're here.

I also ride a KTM 690 Enduro but I'm way up in Berlin. Hoping to attend the Erzberg Rodeo at the end of May (as a spectator, not a competitor).

I also have a KTM 1190 Adventure R but I will soon be putting it up for sale.
