Nothing scares Bill like spendin' money on tars.
There are old silver/gold mines scattered all over the area. Most seemed to have a horizontal primary shaft, but some had a vertical primary shaft with horizontal shafts branching off below. This one was probably 75-100 ft straight down, but there was a lot of water flowing in a horizontal shaft like an underground river.
Recrazyjax was of course trying to gain access, but the state of CO usually did a pretty good job of keeping idiots like us from killing ourselves in them. Bummer!
Not all of the mines were successfully blocked off though. So that’s what those winches are for on the front of the jeeps! Anyway, this unidentified dumbass was clearly past the No Trespassing signs. Probably a good thing that he didn’t remember to bring a flashlight with him that day.
These were the highlight of my day, we gotta send y'all on more trips!
Day 4 (Wed) Ride Report - Imogene Ophir Loop.
This one was a ton of fun. Beefcake (Nick) and I headed out with him on Mark's 500 KTM and we climbed...a lot we climbed! :)
The place is pretty cray-cray! :)

Day 4 (Cont2)
This is our view of Black Bear Pass (we're doing it upcoming...) from Imogene...Cray-Cray!!
Awesome views abound...
Ophir was rocky...go figure... haha
And we'll end the day with a hole in the mtn...mines everywhere.
Here’s a few pics to go along with Nicks snow climb up from Ironton toward Hurricane (?) Pass.
In the first pic, Nick is the dot on the road with a beautiful backdrop.
Then Nick & Todd at the pass.
And my trusty steed, cause it looks cool all by itself.
A screen shot at the 2:58 mark would be awesome. What a view!
East Texas, 8 minutes..
