I will be down there about 7 .
Probably around 10pm for me. I'm bringing a grill if anyone wants to use it (kind of went overboard grabbing my camping stuff) and a couple gallons of beer.
Weathered the storm. Nice and cool now. Kaiser plays a mean banjo!!!!
Hope you bastards have a good weekend. Stay safe.
Sweet night. Made it back to China safe. Hit it again at 8 a.m. at the Ghost Ranch.
The night has turned gorgeous and the homemade beer is awesome!!! Kaiser has his shit together!!!!
Well sadly the helmet cam didn't work out very well. I have good video of my trip (and spill) around the ranch, some video of the first half of the ride before we stopped at the gas station - but it gets progressively hazier and hazier as the lens fogs up - so most of it is worthless. The video of the really awesome stuff we did after the stop got cut off a few minutes in because I ran out of space on the memory card
Ah well - I'll edit together a few bits of what I did get and post it up, but I'm disappointed that I didn't capture that last half of the ride.
Anyway, video aside, I had a great time and I'm looking forward to more - if I can stand the heat. It was great to meet everyone. I'd better get brewing to keep you all in beer.
Nice to meet you Kaiser. We'll still be here when ya get ready to come back up. Glad you enjoyed our little roads. After you left, the decision (led by TXjames) was made to jump in the crick down the road. Which they did. Well, we couldn't outrun the heat (although we did our damndest a couple of times) but they found a way to Beat the Heat afterall.
2 deer....a couple a pigs....some skunks....a racoon ..an opossum & a bunch o rabbits.
That's what I dodged out on CR266 ..272 & 274 last night while heading home from Ghostville. In the car,it wasn't quite as big of a deal as it would've been on the bike....but still......
It was a great day for ridin....even the afternoon's heat couldn't stop the ever intrepid attendees. & Ghost outdid himself on the fajitas & fixins last night (not to mention the chorizo n egg breakfast burritos) Yardracer also piched in with all kinds of sweet goodies for dessert.
The light(ning) show Sat night wasn't what it was on Friday...but it was prob good that the storm passed us by.
BIG THANX to Doty for puttin on another shindig in the hills of Coryell....
Remember talking about the cops before I left last night......and got promptly pulled over on 36......very nice boy though.....just let me know that the lights on my license plate were out.
Was really nice to see ya'll!!!
Damn shame I had to take off yesterday but I had to attend a big family get together which we didn't end up leaving till midnight. Ghost just whipped out the fajitas as I was leaving and they looked amazing! SOB!
But thanks for everything Ghost. It was another spectacular weekend at your place. Next time we need some more little bikes out there!
sorry did not make it, really wanted to bring the 450 and try some trails
cheers to Ghost and you guys
Yeah, that happens to all my good footage too. The boring stuff is on the card and that amazing no-hands wheelie over the bonfire never gets recorded. And when I go fishing, you should've seen the one that got away.
Good meeting you and thanks for bringing the beer. It was very good.
Thanks Ghost for having us over. The accommodations and grubb was excellent. I suspect that fish may return to that stream some years in the future. :loll
My trial by camping is over. Here's what I learned.
- The tent is good, but it can be difficult to manage in a good breeze.
- I need to get a chair.
- I need to date a chiropractor, either a small one that won't take up much room on the bike, or a medium sized one that can ride HER own.
- The coconut socks worked fairly well - I'm ordering more of them. They were still somewhat smelly after today's ride, but way better then ordinary socks.
- The Ex-offico travel boxers worked well too. 2 more pairs on the way.
Once again, had a great time and enjoyed meeting all new peeps and seeing the old ones again.
I put together a couple videos with the footage I got, blurry or no. The first one is the ride around the ranch with BigDave. The second is the bigger ride with TxJames, BigDave, and SoG:
Morning Guys, I had a great time.
Thanks Ghost the food , beer, and company were great!
I enjoyed meeting everyone and the trails were lots of fun.
Let's do it again!
Kaiser, Hizzo, and BigDon. Really nice meeting y'all. And Kaiser , good on you for the vids.
See? We're not as completely nutz as some people claim we are.
To the ir-Regulars. We sure have it good in Centex. That is all.
Guys, I enjoyed it too!! I was impressed at what I learn from these events. It seems ADV Riders have some pretty damn good ideas. BigDon, I really enjoyed picking your brain about traveling to Alaska and wish to do it more between now and the time I go. Hizzo, I am with HasBeen on wanting a percent on some of those inventions
Kaiser, You are my official B and B guy(BEER and Bango) That was some killer home brew...Saturday morning had me in slow motion:eek1 JBay..ya should have come...even if you don't camp...the new trails are definitely more small bike friendly
Sounds like you all had an awesome time-- down to single digit days before heading home. Shady should be a week or two behind me. Looking forward to getting home and doing some riding -- have to go through all the mandatory Fort Hood Fun. but a free trip to the motorcycle range updating my MSF card can't be too bad.
Had a good time riding with you Kaiser. Look forward to doing some more riding with ya. Come up anytime and we'll go find some more of central Texas awesome dirt roads to ride and explore ! ! !
