I've got an 07 640 Adventure, should I be waiting for the new design to come out, or will the existing bag fit? I really like the idea of the new bag being fully waterproof though, but 60 - 80 litres sounds pretty big. Which do you think would fit best?

    Hi Wach,

What's a week, I can wait a week for pictures.:clap Re which design might be best, I want to use the bag for long desert trips in Australia and the tracks vary from good dirt roads to rough as guts and bulldust which gets into everything. I've been using Ortlieb roll top bags which are water/bulldust proof and good but I'd love to piss the racks off and get a bit more crash resistance.

Do you envisage the new design will be available in Australia in May? Will they be quick release?

    Ta,

    Adrian

Crap. I just bought a GL bag for a two week Mexico trip on my 640A, and hopefully an August trip to Alaska (still waiting for my kitchen pass for that one)

It sounds like the Great Basin is the bag I'm going to need though...

Hey thanks wachs! There isn't any reason why I can't have BOTH bags is there? :lol3

Hey PackMule, no I haven't used it yet, as I am still out of the country. It is still in the shipping box on my workbech waiting for me to get home in two weeks and open it up (at least that is where Mrs. Ody told me she put it)

Any chance the original bag will be made with waterproof fabric? I cross a lot of streams and don't want wet gear... I have hesitated to install mine and am reconsidering the bag. I have saddlebags that work well and have waterproof covers.

The bag looks like it is made well...

Yes, streams like that...If they stay dry through that, I am good!!! I will mount them up and give a report. I may order some Aerostich dry sacks to go inside. I used dog packs for years in Mexico and the plastic bags inside to keep stuff dry took up at least 20% of the space. Thanks for the quick response!
