Last Sunday was an unusually beautiful November day here in Detroit. After months of trying, I convinced girl friend to take a short ride in the hack. She hates being a passenger in a cage and was terrified of the hack. I planned on a simple coffee run.

2 miles from home she pats my leg at a light & yells "This is great!" She is getting the idea that EVERYBODY waives at a sidecar. Old ladies, kids in strollers, the man in blue in the cruiser next to us. She's having fun waiving back, especially to the cop. We extend the ride and aimlessly explore the farm country of southern Michigan, keeping on 2 lanes and dirt. Girl friend is really enjoying the ride and is now waiving at the horses.

5 hours and 120 miles later we stop at a scenic spot on the shore of lake Erie. Her first words are "You wouldn't believe how badly I want to have sex right now".

On the way home I did take the slab for a bit. Her eyeballs popped a bit at the speedo passed 90. What can I say- I was in a bit of a hurry

Jeez...I`d have 'superslabbed' it home at top speed too.
In my case I`d have to hope she was MEGA horny because the only 90 my speedo needle passes is in kmh. :lol3

Great to read your tale of two rides.....:evil :evil :evil

This particular account of a sidecar ride conjures up some interesting thoughts about how to promote sidecars in the wider community.

Be glad you're not in Virginia

"No one may have sex while riding in the sidecar of a motorcycle in Norfolk, Virginia, where an old ordinance outlaws anyone from doing so while cruising down a city street."

did you explain to her that bikers wave at each other, ya... but IF ITS A PRETTY GIRRRRRRRL UNDER THE HELMET we'll generally jump fences, cross creeks on fire, and dive out of airplanes just to get a glimpse of their pretty smile enjoying the ride ?

:clap congrats on her first time out, many more :freaky

    Update-

Girl friend bought herself a new helmet, is all geeked to take a MSF class in the spring with her friend (the SO of another inmate), and asked me to find her a decent starter bike.

And we had another 100 mile ride last Saturday :evil

She has definitely found that us guys will parachute from a perfectly good airplane into a burning pool of fire in exchange for a chance at a smile. Luckily, she rarely uses this power.

As an old guy, I get more smiles, waves, and requests for "rides" while piloting the rig from PYT's (pretty young things) than I ever get riding the bike.

Novelty or maybe looking quaint and almost harmless, but whatever the reason, chicks dig sidecars.

My wife prefers this hands down to pillion, it seems more like strolling hand in hand as opposed to hanging on for dear life.

We still have a pair of off road Rokons and an XT250 for solo 2 wheel fun, but the rigs rule.

My Brother who has piloted my hacks but never owned one comes to me and says "hey, did you know everyone waives at you when you are on a sidecar" ?

I had to esplain to him that when he was piloting my rig's, his attention was all about returning my rig to me safely. Now that he has his new to him 2012 Ural GU and his head is processing more info, I told him he will notice dang near everyone is waiving at you and the passenger. I told him dog's attract women in sidecar's. Many of them with Blue hair. So I think he is going to train his cat to ride along:lol3
