    Hi

This past Oct I took delivery of a 2012 BMW Triple Black GS, it's been a long time away for BMW and I'm really glad to be riding one again.

It's amazing how from 2005 when I had my last GS how things have advanced, and with the new twin cam, how the motor pulls. My first ride I thought the bike had an after market exhaust , what a beautiful sound.

I'd forgotten how well they handle, it's going to be a long winter waiting to ride again as here in Ontario it's single digit temperatures.

Thought I would share these ramblings with the forum

Why the heck do we do this to ourselves though? The last 3 bikes I bought in the middle of winter....with months to go before riding season:norton

I bought my 2011 last December.... I was a painful winter waiting to get out for that first rip.....

But soon I had it loaded like a back mule. I did manage to get 16,000 K on it this year. (with 5 other bikes in the stable I have to share my time with them)

Wait until you get into the twisties.... try the BearTooth.... at altitude there is no shortage of power.

Did you find the bike was much cheaper to buy and import compared to buying locally? I'm looking for another bike (GS is on the list) but haven't researched buying from the US. I've done it with cars, but never a bike.

    Thanks for the info. ...Steve

Managed to put 1300 klm's on her before the weather stopped cooperating, the plan is to strap my self on her next summer and do eastern Canada.

I'm able to chart some of the changes to the GS as I've had four in total, older 800 white with the orange seat ( it's some where in Toronto ). Grey one ,last year before the new GS , 2005 Red and silver and now the 2012.

I thought long and hard about waiting for the new water cooled..but in the end decided on tradition ( the only reason the went water was for noise and emission ) ..and they reduced the gas tank by the same volume that the water takes up?

I've don't this twice before buying a bike late season...but I was determined this time to get out and ride before the cold weather.

Just a side note..BMW dealers seem to be wiling to discount, I got most of option thrown in, and BMW sweeten the pot by giving me a set of hard bags..not many people know that BMW Canada gives a set of bags for free..my dealer didn't know until he checked.

Going to order the 38 liter TraX rear box...to round off the carrying capacity .

I'm going to try and wear this one out.

Came so close to buying one.

Chickened out last minute ($$$$) and bought a used WR250R instead. So glad I did (it weighs a ton less).

Still would love to have that triple black in the stable though.
