Monument on the way back
Great pics! I've always wanted to go to the monument! It appears you can no longer get inside? That's a shame!
You can but it is ca 3 m vertical drop down to the basement and no ladder.
18°C and small rain
No riding but did some walking around Idlievo. The village do not have many people living there, no young people and ca 25% of the houses is owned buy people from England.
People from England bought a property in Idlievo some years ago and this was the toilet that the former owner did use.
And this things were buried under straw.
12-18°C and cloudy
Started rater late and headed south, stopped at an outdoors museum that is not far from Idlievo.
Not far from Plovdiv that is the oldest city in Bulgaria are many cars sales.
Shortly after Plovdiv I saw a sign for an aviation museum http://www.airmuseum-bg.com
Some of the air plains that were on display.
Found a hotel in Kardali that is ca 50 km from Greece, price with breakfast was €22,-
And the hotel
15-22°C and sunny but windy
Vent over a mountain pass to Greece on a good road , it was cold ad windy at the border that was at the top of the pass at 600 m height.
Then it was through Greece and crossed over to Turkey, had to stop in 3 places but did not have to pay anything. It was no waiting for me but it was 2 km long queue of cars waiting to get out of Turkey.
Then I went to Gallipoli and crossed over to Lapseki in Asia. There was a long queue for the ferry and chaos at the harbor, I took a shout cut ended at the front of the queue. The sailing took 20 minutes and I did not pay, maybe is this ferry free. Headed then south by the coast and found a hotel not far from Troia.
So far the roads in Turkey have bee very good
I'd love to explore Turkey by bike, a wonderful country.
Yes, fun biking country, lots to explore. I've gone there 3 times on my own bike and rented 7 times.
Looking forward to G B's take on it.
Edit: Watch out for the speed limits for motorcycles in Turkey (you'll be stopped if you're doing more than 10km/h over the limit):
80km/h on the open road,
90km/h on split lane roads (dual carriageway),
100km/h on motorways.
Thanks for the advice
17-24°C sunshine and windy
First I went to Troia to have a look at the horse and the ruins, There were many buses with school kids there so I did not spend long time at the ruins. Did not have to pay for the parking for the bike, that is the good thing with bike traveling.
From there I went to the coast and ended on a gravel road for a while.
This village Babakale sits on a cape that is exactly the westernmost point of mainland Asia and there was a gravel road from the village.
By the coast are many holiday homes and hotels some are in use but other are not completed.
The tourists are almost all local peoples and I have not see a single car with other number plate than Turkish.
