One of the loops shown has the group riding down lippencott and then back into the valley via Hunter Mountain.

What was the condition of the washout at the bottom of south pass, last time we saw anything about it was a huge ravine across the road.

Anyone have pictures of that specific trouble spot?

Current condition? All the posted ride reports don't say anything about that loop from what I have read so far.

I am not very familiar with the area but we did not encounter any washouts on this route and road conditions were fine. I can send you the actual track log if you want to look closer.

If I'm not mistaken the huge washout you speak of is north pass - north of the hot springs on Saline Valley Road. We saw pics from Jim and Finn when they were out that way. Can get thru on a dualsport, but they thought it might be pretty tough on a big bike, definitely a road bike.

Are you going out to PSR for t-day again this year?

shame on you matt for not coming to this event.

juan, even on street bikes you'll have a nice time. herb, walt and red are great hosts. the saloon is the perfect place to hangout when it's cold outside.

best of all, the beers and sodas are free..and i'm not kidding..:freaky

No, the ones in the castle. Randy is building the place around two giant pipe organs. He was still restoring them when I passed by last spring. Got the impression he might have them fired up sometime this year. Should be very cool to hear.

Wanted to, but couldn't make it happen.
Stayed in Gold Point twice on my way to the last noob rally. Sandy, Herb, and Walt were great hosts, but I think I was the only other person there. Just me and the ghosts in the Saloon. Would really like to see the place hoppin' with a few more living souls.

Thanks everyone for the RRs :thumb

from this thread, hope more people get motivated to head out to gold point. herb, sandy and walt are trying hard to keep the place available for people to enjoy and see the history of the past. they get my support.

very good chance i will be there again next year.

Especially after seeing all these awesome ride reports/photos and general sense of camaraderie and fun I get from them, I am a) super bummed I missed out & b) making every effort to go to the next event at Gold Point.

Day 2 is the day we head up White Mountain and down to Bishop for lunch. Sorry, no video for this day.

The morning started off quite chilly. The weather was cold in the mornings but would quickly heat up once your blood began flowing. Then in the afternoon it would become cold again. A compactable windbreaker is perfect and easily stows in my backpack.

I'm not sure of this rider's name. Please chime in. :ear I do know he lost his license plate less than 24-hours after receiving it from the DMV.

Steve from West FL. He rode his KLR all the way across the country and back. This was his first dirt ride and he was loving it. Great job, Steve!

Mark came to camp and hangout with us for a day.

Regroup at the next trail head. There were something like 28 bikes!

Here's the wet and slippery climb where a few riders went down. Here are the guys moving the big-ass rock making it easier for the rest of us. :evil
    [IMG]

From this point a few of us broke off from the group and turned around to head back to camp in case we needed to get a vehicle to the Bishop hospital. It would be much easier on everyone this way and it is no problemo. I've been up to WMRS a few times but this time I wanted to visit the petrified forest. This gives me an excuse to come back next year!

A few of us took in the sites...

    Matt...thanks for the fireball shots!

We regrouped at the last trail head to camp. At first there were only a small handful of us then more riders showed up. This pic is after the KLR's I was with had a nut & bolt replacement party. :lol3

I had a great time. Herb, Sandy, and Walt's hospitality was top notch. A nice little gem in the dez. :clap I will definitely be back. Til next time...

Thank you very much my friend for posting the video (of my favorite part of the ride!) and especially for all the help out there. I'll be back, hope to see you all again soon. Your parking lots out there are more fun than riding in Florida :lol3:deal:evil:D

It's already working! I was reminded of Gold Point, Nv. from this thread and did an 8 bike street ride to visit Herb, Walt and Sandy last weekend on our way to Death Valley- GREAT TIME!
We damned near had the whole town to ourselves.

I shot this short video of our ride to Gold Point in hopes to help promote the destination, and their efforts to help preserve this truly unique slice of the Old American west.
