    Hi there folks

Firstly, how do i share a google map with you?

Secondly, how do i modify it to change a route?

Thirdly, Google Maps seems tio make my computer run slow and weird....just me?

Fourthly, I'd like to be able to print a large colour version of my map - A4 or even A3....but all i can seem to achieve is a screen shot.....help?

    Cheers

    Shane

Look for the word link in the top left of the map, click on it then copy the text from the Paste link in email or IM box and past it into an adv etc post. This will past a link for others to click and follow. You can probably past it as a picture directly into a post but I dunna know how.

You can click on a link and drag it to the road you want. It will only ever follow the roads it know about though.

Your not that special :D but it is probably not your computer running slow rather your internet. Google maps takes up quite a lot of internet bandwidth.

You pretty much have to use the print function (again top left of the map). To print to A3 is the hardest bit i.e. I'm not sure a way around this. A screen shot will look crap when printed at A3.

(cross posted in making tracks but you guys will understand the roads i'm talking about better)

as kindly suggested i have been using the 'directions' tool then pulling the route to the roads i really wanted to take, which is currently working great....until i get to a road that I want to take but that Google Maps does not recognise...probably because it's so secondary (it may even be gravel!)...so then i change to the 'draw a line' tool and painstakingly click along the long long twisty (boy it's twisty) road until i make it back to a highway that GM should recognise......

My question now is, as the last placename i entered to get 'directions' is now on the other end of my PAINSTAKINGLY self entered road (did i mention it was long and twisty?)....am I stuck with manual entries from now on or can i revert to the 'get directions' tool and if so, HOW?

(for this post in the New Zealand forum, I shall add that GM does not recognise hwy/rte 38 between wairoa and Murapara hence my having to mark it in myself - I'm now at Rotomahana at the intersection of 38 and 5 and want to now type in Takapau on hwy50 south of Hastings as my next destination)

Thanks for your patience but I'm planning a big ride and i'm getting anal about being able to print off the EXACT route! :D

Hold on a tick - you playing with google maps (web site here) or google earth? I dont know of any 'draw a line tool' in Google maps but there is an 'add path' tool in Google Maps.

If the 'road' doesn't exist then you have to use the add path tool and draw in the path manually but then you have already figured that out haven't you :lol3
