What a better way is out there, to describe my new love affair , than a small ride report with all my latest adventures on my new to me DRZ . After few years riding my 650's BMW's I decided to buy something smaller for a little more aggressive off-road . Still own both BMW's and still much in love with both .
Last year in August I bought a 2007 DRZ with 5k from Metropolis Illinois from a fellow BMW 650 owner . Used as commuter , the bike was in mint shape and mechanically sound . With the same occasion I had visited St Louis and Shawnee National Forest .

My number 1 adventure came in late September as in the beginning of the month I was finishing TAT on my GS 650 . What a blast and a full ride report can be seen at http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=828514 . Since I live in Chicago , the closest place where I can have some fun is Wisconsin . Therefore I went to Cheese Trail , a stretch of 60 miles from Monroe to Mineral Point WI . Light off-road and good scenery , except some of the ATV trails that I have ignored the DO NOT ENTER sign and crashed .

After the last ride I needed to to few improvements on the bike . Stock parts are very week and few things got bent or broken - bars , cracked engine cover , subframe and tail light . Saved some money and bought few accessories for it - Wolfman tank bag and rear racks , case savers , Yoshimura exhaust , 4 gallon gas tank , skid plate , seat , fat-bars , hand-guards and a pelican case with rotopax gas can . The bike looks much better and I can do a little more than just trails . To see how it handles I went to Attica Indiana , Badlands Off-Road Park - my old nemesis . Here is where I destroyed my 650's GS engine as I had it submerged under mucky waters . If you not familiar with it this park can be a pain in the buns - plenty of sand and mud !

    Day #1

I did well this day ! 300 miles on pavement , 70 miles on NWAT and a flat tire two miles away from home . Luckily my GF was able to bring my lift for a smooth repair .

Just wondering but what do you use for a camera? Just a small point and shoot? I'm looking for a new camera and your pics look very crisp with good color. Thanks!

    Day #2

Second day on the trail was a little difficult ! Just tired from the day before and lack of sleep . Great weather , some obstacles along the way and a nice Buffalo farm that I came across .

I was happy to see pictures from the Bong recreation area. I have ridden at Bong several times in the past (early 90s) and had a great time.

You should try the Black River Falls trail system. Somewhat sandy, but a lot of fun!

    Congrats on the DRZ.

    Cheers.

Thank You and some of the trails at Black River Falls were done on my F650 , part of TWAT ( Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail ) . I am hoping that I will have one more weekend this year to take the DRZ on some trails ans seriously considering Black River .

    Day # 4

This day went well with very few setbacks . Few water holes , dropped the bike once and have seen at least forty turkeys . Also I passed by this lake that just stunned me with it's beauty . In the back of my mind I was thinking how nice it will be if I live near by . Wisconsin is awesome and DRZ is running great !!!!!
