We definitively have to go in two weeks and the date is fixed so far, because we need to prepare for the Baja 300 Mitteldeutschland which is at the beginning of may
The only reason to cancel the tour is if there are sub-zero temperatures, but I hope at the end of march we will have nearly two digit degrees plus...

You want to go to a GS Event with a rallye KTM ? :lol3

Does the Keihin still fit well with the battery underneath it ?
I´m thinking about installing a FCR39 into my 660 Rallye :evil

Its tight but fits, I've had to leave the drain hose off the fuel bowl but yours looks like a KTM battery holder whereas mine is fabricated. The 98 660 had the setup you have. Some of the second generation 660 Rally factory bikes used an FCR with the battery under it.

I did a trial fit of a 39mm fcr on a 00 660 with oem battery holder, had little or no clearance from drain spear on bowl to top of battery,it was a few years ago so maybe some of the later generation smaller batterys like shorais will give required gap between bowl drain hose/battery to fit one.

Yeh John I'm running a Yuasa YTZ12S (I think) which is the standard battery. Actually trimmed the drain nipple off the carb to fit. It has a 39mmFCR non MX.

But what if the bike falls over (which will actually happen pretty often in the dirt...) and fuel starts running over battery and engine... I´m not a big friend of this solution :eek1

But I want that Keihin :getiton I had one in my Adv R with 660 SMC engine, but of course there was plenty of space (no battery and starter...)
