That has never been my experience. Judges have slammed me everytime.

Learned my lesson. Jeanne Mucklestone for me, would much rather give the money to her then those leeches.

Not trying to disappoint you or anything, but if you got the time go to court and see if the judge will listen. If they are halfway any kind of real judge. The fact the cop told you that they pulled you over because they "thought" you were keeping pace... and that they were in fact writing you a ticket for a number they "made up". Not something they actually recorded... You should get off with a few months "probation" (no legal stuff or tickets for like 3 months or a month). Nothing on record.

BUT, I wouldn't be surprised if the officiating officer is not the officer that wrote you the ticket and you end up waiting like 2.5 hours to be heard and then before you get to go into what happened, you get told that since you are fighting it the officer must be present and they are currently "away" on other business. But you can come back next week and we'll get to you if they are there that day. OR you can just pay "x" penalty and call it a day. That happens a lot too.

I received a "good driving award" a few months back.
I hired a shyster, it was reduced to a non-moving violation.
Cost me $200 plus another $100 for court costs.

Or sign up for traffic school.

I paid the court $250 and if I didn't get another ticket for a year, maybe 2, the ticket would never leave the courthouse. Needless to say I was very careful for the next year.

I was written for 5 over in WA and there's a program where if you pay the full amount and say/ write the magic words & don't mess up for some time the ticket stays off your record. Sorry, post-op posting. :1drink

Hopefully someone will know what I'm talking about.

Except for the time when I was a dumbass 17 y/o, every time I have gone to court to argue my case I have had it dismissed. That is at least 3 times, but the memory, she ain't what she used to be.

Check the space that says you did not commit the infraction, request a court date. Dress very nice, be very polite and explain your case - if you get that far. Twice the cop didn't show up and I just had it dismissed as a result; didn't even get/have to tell my side!

If you go to court, don't just tell the judge your side of the story. You have to cross-examine the cop and get him to admit to what he said to you during the stop. That's the key. Otherwise he can just change his story and it's game over. Cops are trained to lie to get convictions.
