New GPS. New SD card. The GPS doesn't know the card is there. Garmin Express can't find it. The computer sees it. Basecamp sees it but as an external drive. See below.

It should come up like this.

I formatted the card according to Garmin's instructions. I can drop GPX files on it but neither Basecamp nor the GPS access them. When I save waypoints or routes, it saves to both the GPS and the SD.

    What am I doing wrong?

Two things, and it may be of no help. And this is at the risk of sounding like "Microsoft's help desk".

Is the card you are trying to use massively large in storage capability?
Some devices are/were never rated for over certain capacity memory cards. Try a smaller capacity card as an experiment.
Do you have an older card that used to work with it you can try? Just trying to isolate if it's a card issue or device/software thing.

Is it perhaps a Micro SD card in one of those adapter-shell things?
Sometimes those adapters are for shit.
Lastly, someone will no doubt ask if you have tried it on a different computer too.. :bueller
