    Thanks much,

I've heard of these places but didn't know where they were so thanks again for this helpful information. Plans are to make the solo trip in July or Aug.

All I want to know is why you do not have a picture of this goose riding your PC ! ???

    :lol3

    Great Ride Report Oldone. :thumb

That scooter is a sight with those boxes hanging off the sides ! :eek1 :lol3

I am amazed at how little civilization is around the lake.

    The scenery is wonderful.
Seems you have a lot to enjoy around there.
And the roads look like my kind of roads too.
Not too challenging, but nice gentle curves and great scenery.
I guess I prefer scenery over thrill !

Trust me, pictures never turn out the same as when you are there.
Nothing can replace actually being there, no matter how good a picture is.

Thank you so much for sharing.
By doing so you have given back to all of us more than you realize,
because now we can dream of riding around Lake Superior too.

    :clap

    PC-Rider,

Thanks for the comments.....Those are always nice to get and make a person feel like maybe the time taken was worth it. You're so right though, there's miles upon miles of open land around the lake, with beautiful scenery almost everywhere you look. even when you aren't right on the water. I hope I can do the whole thing again, maybe the other way around the next time. There were plenty of things that we missed too so that's another reason to go back.

Thanks again for posting. Sorry that I wasn't able to respond at first but I had a very ill computer that I was tending to. I guess it's feeling better now, at least I'm sure getting more rest and have more hopes that it might be healed up pretty much.

    Take care,

Great ride report. I enjoyed it. I am planning on doing a ride around Lake Superior next summer and I made a note of some places from your report that I want to make sure I see. Thanks for posting the report.

    Pipedreamer,

Thanks for your comments. I read your nice ride report and now that makes me think of doing something like that too. I'm going to at least try to ride down the east side of Lake Michigan and then cross over and ride back up on the west side of Lake Huron. At least that would be better then nothing!

    Thanks again,

    Gary "Oldone"

Now that the dead of winter is here, it's a good time to make plans for this summer I guess. Does anyone know what interesting things there would be to see along the western side of Lake Huron? I'd like to see some of that lake, if not the whole thing, but know nothing about any of it at this point. Thanks for any help.....

Still in the planning phase for next summer's ride and although I know about where the "tunnel of trees" on # 119 would be on the N.E. corner of Lake Michigan, I don't know how far down that side to go as far as still being something interested to see? Would cutting over to Lake Huron at some point be sensible in order to see that shoreline? Anything there to see?
    Just curious?

    Thanks,

    Gary

Thanks for asking Oldtrick......I'm thinking of a ride around Lake Michigan so that I can ride over the big bridge (Mackinac) a couple of times. Some say that the wind there is "touchy" so if any of you have done that please let me know what your thoughts are about it. Thanks....

Been over the Mighty Mac 8 or 9 times. The 360 deg view is awesome. There was a couple of times it got hairy from the crosswinds. I tried to get next to something big so the blow wouldn't be so bad. Stay off the grated left lane on the suspension part during high winds( its cool to look down esp. when a freighter is going by when the wind is calm). The speed limit is 40mph, but I slow down just to enjoy the view longer!

Yes, plans have been made and re-made. For some reason, with only a couple of months away from 70 yrs. old, my "ideas" are bigger then what my old bones want to follow along! Thus, my "plans" change from day to day. :-)

Since we missed Whitefish Bay and the museum there, I've decided that I'll make it back there this summer and add a few things to this RR. I've always loved the shipping industries history.

This was taken a couple of miles from our home in AZ. and is part of my first ride report a couple of years ago. It was called Grampa's National Monument Ride and if interested can be found here. Grampa’s National Monument Ride

Part of my National Monument trip was through the Oak Creek Canyon by the beautiful Sedona area. I'd love for someone reading this RR who would be curious enough to ride this area and then comment on what you think. It's that nice of a ride and I know that you'd love it. Try to find the time to do it. Grampa’s National Monument Ride

Nice photos and memories to look back upon. I have only been down there in a rental car. Did the Grand Canyon loop Monument Valley, Arches & Moab area, Bryce, Zion, Capital Reef, CanyonLands etc.

One day perhaps on a bike before I can't. I'm like you, young mind and bones older than I can admit to. Birthday tommorow, 67 and climbing . . . I'm catching up to you

    Bob,

Thanks for your comments. I hope you get a chance to do some of those on a bike as do I. Hope you have a good birthday today.

    Hi Jenn,

I thought I'd tell you that I went back through your ride reports and really am enjoying those again. In fact, since we're 600 miles from the Black Hills in the summers, there's no reason why I couldn't do that trip too. It looked very inviting when you went there and we've been there several times with the car before. Now after re-reading about your adventure, I've got the bug to do it on my bike.

    Thanks for those......

    Gary
