ok - so I am not new to welding and fab (johnhenleydesigns.com) but I am fairly new to this dual sport life.

I am looking to build a plate for my gran canyon, and I am wondering about bolting/anchoring to the hepco bars? I would use the front static mounts (factory).

This will not see much single track, but mainly FS roads and trails with the occasional water crossing.

thanks in advance for the advice and or flames

    Hi Johnny66,

I have the plastic stock skid plate, and I do not have the crash bars, so I would not be much help. However I'm interested in building a simple metal skid plate in order to ditch the stock plastic and show more of the engine.

If you are not already aware of the GC Google list/site you may want to post your questions here: Cagiva_Gran_Canyon2@yahoogroups.com

ask and you shall receive -

template for 3/16" aluminum skid plate. mounts to factory points. sides are 4"

I will be taking a hole saw to mine for drainage, and will heat form some extra room for the exhaust

not sexy, but I think it will work.
