That garage is un-naturally clean, you need to tear something down :D

Congrats on the new place Greg.

Thanks Chris! Oh, I've got a few projects lined up already, some I'm not looking forward to. I have plenty of 'projects' around the new place too, I think I'll be booked until 2015 sometime! I just hope I can squeeze in some riding every now & again.

Anyone riding or want to ride this weekend? I need to get out... been too long and I could use the stress relief!

I could do something dual-sportish or gnarly dirtbiking.

Sorry buddy, I'm going to be in Denver. The 950 is in pieces anyway while I try to mess with the carbs (as always). Still hoping to get the 520 back from the shop in time to go up high and do some trail riding before the snow comes back.

BTW- Love the X-Mow idea. May have to get you a steeker that says that.

Bill, are you describing that route down from where we camped out a few month ago? I remember asking if there was a shortcut down the mountain to come out near rope canyon and you guys said that it would be pretty much impossible on a big bike.

That is the trail. I still think a 520/450 class bike should get down it.

That is the track I had seen. Is this the one that is locked at the Square S? Or is this the steep four wheeler road, Tommy's Draw?

How steep, and whats a big bike? :D

    KTM 640 Adventure too big?

Thanks Minerbill, just trying hard find alternatives to the I-70 corridor on my way to GJ or Glenwood.

    Cheers, Chris

Hey everyone I'm new to this whole forum thing and I'm just getting into this dual sport thing. I've been riding dirt bikes most of my life but decided to get a dual sport so I didn't have to haul my bike everywhere I went I moved to the grand valley 3 years ago and don't really know to many people here so I'm looking for a few people to ride with. I recently got a 2013 klr650 and I'm not a pro at riding it yet. So if your looking for someone else to join your rides just let me know and thanks I can do weekend now and possible middle of the week trips in the future

That is the steep four wheeler track. You had it nailed on your first set of pics.

I was internetless and didn't pick it up on my phone.

Big is if you can pick up your bike on steep slippery slopes. "Big" bikes get smaller the older I get.

The Square S gate is further south into Garfield County. Near or on CR26.
When I get home to my land use maps, I can shoot you a coordinate.

Just got the big beast to breathe fire once again. Took me 5.5 hours to get the flipping carbs back in, replace the throttle cables (forgot how they were supposed to be routed so had to do that three times) as well as the hydraulic clutch hose. What a piece of ... art it is to work on. Also lowered the bars by about two inches to try and improve the geometry a bit.
Ready to destroy it now. :-)

I understand that, and steep just means how long do you need to recover until you can ride again.

Thanks for the coordinates. I am out of town but will take a look when I get back.

    Cheers, Chris

Pretty sure I'm going to ride down to the San Juans tomorrow, over Black Bear Pass then Imogene Pass and on home. Looks like I'll be solo as well... what's the worst that could happen? :evil

Of course! I took the GoPro, so I may have a video later on.

I'm home now... took my time getting on the road, made it back to GJ before 5 pm. Rode nothing more than the above plan, as it was enough when combined with all the slab. I'm beat! This was my first time over Black Bear on the bike...the ride was good, Black Bear was about what I expected... pretty steep in a few places, kept my speed to a crawl and just rolled thru the rough stuff.

Imogene was no biggie... fun riding for sure.

After the Stairs on BB, I ran into a couple from Utah on a KTM 990 Adventure! They had ridden BB ahead of me, she walked while he rode over the rough sections... much respect to them! :bowThe 690 wasn't bad, but I couldn't imagine riding a 990 over it.
