    Bill,

Look at swinging south thru Sunrise before Camron to go by Grand Falls on Little Colorado. Haven't been there but told it is worth going by. See AZ/NM SMTS file (many of these tracks are yours).

Thanks for the tip. I checked it out. It would be an easy and probably worthwhile diversion from our probable route in an otherwise somewhat dull ride.

Pics on Google Earth were really nice and I found this official web site.

    http://www.navajonationparks.org/htm/grandfalls.htm

But I guess the water/mud only runs during spring runoff and after a heavy rain somewhere downstream.

I think gravity works in reverse in thru there. Otherwise I guess the water would come from upstream.

Stopped in Rigens ID on the Salmon River, it was hotter than hell. Local told us it was so hot because it was below sea level.

Thanks Coundown for posting the attached track. A group of riders from Michigan will attempt this track from Nogales Az to the end of Utah- hopefully... Now i have only viewed the track in Google Earth. I do not have a full version yet. Would you say that knobbies are absolutelly required? or Metz Turanzas are just fine for AZ&Ut sections? We are leaving Aug 1st. 1 gsa,1 gs, 1 strom

Full active log tracks are posted on GPSXchange.com, only filtered teaser on Adv.

I layout trails on 525 EXC with MT43 tire. I have never ridden a bike without knobbies or MT43 so can't advise. Make sure and take all Adv bypasses on any bike larger than a 500.

Hey Countdown, I just want to make sure I'm hearing you right about the GWT and ADV bikes. As long as you follow the ADV route, the R1200GS on Battle Wings should do fine right?

I saw a coupe of guys on L/C GSs at D2D who didn't buy TKCs. It can get ugly when it rains. I would recommend TKCs or Mitas E07s for any off road riding.

Yes always take > 650 on Adv options. Can't talk about tires, just size of bike. Read the AZBDR threads much of the trail is the same.

Hi guys! Reporting from GWT. Dropped bike twice. Once almost upside- down ... Not sure if coming down to Cottonwood section is an ADV... :). Anyhow we got down alive and managed not to fly off the side of the mountain.

I assume you mean down to Jerome? That was Dual Sport Track, Adv Track goes down Hwy.

Perhaps its also my ability but that descent took everything I got from me. It was like .25 mile of bad rocks an later loose rocks. We may have missed some adventure detur. The track ended on a gas station in cottonwood. I will post GPS tracking when I get home.

Where did you get the Track you were following?

I thought I was he only person who has recorded GPS tracks for the GWT. Mine are posted on GPSXchange.com I have ridden and recorded GPS tracks from Mexico to West Yellowstone.

The marked trail is very hard to follow without GPS Tracks but it comes from Camp Verde to Cherry then up and crosses 89A and down a rocky jeep road (would have killed you) toward the Verde River. It actually does not go thru Jerome but I put in that option to miss the killer rocky road. It does not go any way near Cottenwood.

It appears that somehow we got off track right after Silver Springs.
I am posting only this portion.
Getting smaller bike the next season and hopefully come back for more.

First you were on Dual Sport way which can be done on big bike by advanced rider but then turned to Cottenwood for some reason.

    Were you following my tracks?

it is a long story...:D For sure I will have a better GPS unit the next year.
And yes now I understand what does color marking mean...
It was a really good adventure!
I will post the firs part starting around Nogales, AZ in a moment.
Hey Countdown, I want to thank you for posting these tracks - without them we wouldn't really know where to go.

Just like fishing, the worst day on a motorcycle is better than the best day at work!

My Dark Green is usually Dual Sport and Adv Bike.
Any Dark Magenta with Track name "Adv" or "GS" should be used to bypass Dark Green which is too hard for them.
Red is very difficult Dual Sport.
I think you are first ones using my GWT tracks but a few others are planning for next year.

I am thinking about doing Cameron to Camp Verde next spring. We really like the stretch from Williams to Jerome when we did it a few years ago.
