    Thanks Texas Aggie!

I managed to catch a stable WiFi signal and we are at five deposits, which means the group buy is in the **% discount tier. There's still a few days left to kick that up to **% (or better!), so if you've got friends and family with Hexhead/Camhead GS Adventures, let 'em know about the awesome deal on ADVrider! :evil

I've received a couple of questions on finish. The boxes are raw/natural aluminum and are not put through a finishing, clearcoating/anodizing, or polishing process, so you'll get some "character marks" in the aluminum as part of the production process and from being moved around the manufacturers's workshop. It's usually nothing you'll even notice after a few miles mounted on the bike but just want to set the right expectation. If you want to spiff up the cosmetics, we've had a few folks take their raid boxes off at the end of the season and use steel wool or Scotchbrite pads with WD-40 to give it that brushed aluminum "Exile" effect.

Any other questions, please let me know.

    Thanks!

    JM,

I just received a new one from Jason and they will fit a quart of oil in it. Nothing else will fit, but it'll fit in there. Just be aware that there's sharp rivet nipples poking all over the inside so its possible they might puncture the bottle if you go offroad.

Thanks for the info. Is there enough room leftover inside the box with the oil in it to glue a thin layer of rubber mat or something else to cover the rivet heads?

Hey guys - just did some measuring on a quart of Formula Shell oil and the dimensions (of the quart) are 9" tall by 4.25" wide by 2.5" deep. The quart just passes through the box opening, but it will slip through fine. I took a few shots of it in a first generation demo toolbox (no angle cut at the front), but confirmed against a Generation II box that it will fit nicely with the spout inserted first. When the quart is in the box spout-in, you'll have about 2.5" behind and above the quart, and approximately 0.5" on the side (or 0.25" on each side).

I've also included a picture of the box with nothing in it so you can see the rivet construction and threaded inserts for the mounting brackets. There's also a shot of the back of the toolbox door to show the foam gasket (ignore the missing lock - yours will come with one!).

Hope this helps...any other questions, please let me know!

Yes, there's room for a mat in there. I was thinking of wrapping the quart in duct tape. 2 layers should prevent any damage.

You bet! I don't have a firm release date yet, but DS Bike has already been prototyping parts for the new LC. Stay tuned over the next few days for a dedicated thread for just LC parts! :evil

I'm in. I just ordered one. I'll stuff shop rags around the qt of oil to keep it from bouncing around. You can always use a few extra shop rags when you're grabbing for the oil. :lol3

Thanks JM and NinjaRider - that puts us at 9 deposits received. The next one makes 10 and kicks the group buy into the **% discount tier!
