No, no, no, I think you need to make sure you are well rested and that your bike is in good riding order. I would just lie around and save your energy, I am sure your skills are fine. I would also recommend my training diet of lots of cold beer, nachos with extra cheese and chili, and big gordo burritos. After all, the winners get to go to South America and you have to train for the food too. Double helpings too. Its impolite to refuse the hospitality and everyone eats two portions each meal.

Rough it for a few days. Don't bring a huge pile of crap to go camping. You'll waste a lot of energy hauling a lot of stuff.

Lose your windshield and mirrors. Look at the daily mileages you'll be doing. The normal GS rider thinks he has to have the bike COMPLETELY full of gas, you don't need that much gas with you. That's the easiest way to lose weight on the big girl.

Start running and doing some exercises, like picking up your bike. If you're in shape, you'll be much better off.

Equipment on the bike isn't going to make much difference. I found that the Kenda Big Block tires hooked up much better in the dirt than the TKC, along with having a stiffer sidewall for running lower tire pressures.

What is everyone doing for accommodations on the east coast? Anywhere I could crash? I'm on a tour by myself right now and would be making a diversion to attend to this. I'd like to leave most of my stuff somewhere so I don't have to bring it on the trails.

    GSR,
you will be camping both nights at the Trophy Cup. I am leaving Friday morning from Atlanta. Probably not con venient for you but you are welcome to drop gear at my place and ride up with me. You can stay at my place the night before if you need a place to stay.

I'm looking forward to this. I have no delusions of winning or doing well. I just want to be challenged, improve, finish and do some beers at nite.

I am with you Britome. I'd like to learn and not embarrass myself. It will be interesting who shows upand the skill levels as well as the bikes they will be riding. Suddenly I wish I rode a GS 650 vs. the GSA I will be riding!

I thought the Trophy Challenge is only for "big bikes" say the 800, 11xx and 1200 but I guess not. Looks like all BMW bikes are allowed except for the 450X.

If I were competing I'd bring an XChallenge....

As long as its not "that way", it would be great to connect. To me that will be part of the fun, and since there aren't spectators, we all won't be distracted by friends and families.

Let's all stay coo ected on this thread and let each other know how we can identify one another.

I will be. It seems like they used to have an expectation that you ride and camp in the spirit of the GS and ADV riding. Doesn't seem that is the case this year.

I'm riding and camping. I thought it was the expectation. Either way that is most fun for me. Im coming alone from Cincinnati.

I am registered for the western qualifier. To me it's a ride, not a race. Some favorite young guy is going to win. Remember BMW is trying to improve the demographics of it's bikes buyers. My question is about the announcement. It said they would be judging people by their write ups and the pictures they take. Anyone know how that will work? Dave

All signed up! I'm going to kill on the social media stuff. The skills, ehhh, we shall see.

I'm currently on an extended ride indefinitely living off of my GS. I'm wondering where I'm going to put all my shiznit that I'm not using during the Trophy. I guess I can hit up the regional forums and see if anyone will let me leave some stuff at their place. Maybe BMW has some storage? Any other suggestions?
