    Sharon and Elmer -

Glad your motoring along in (relative) bliss, inclement weather and tornado warnings aside :eek1. As a famous Norwegian Moto-Adventurer once told me:

"There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad weather gear."

I'm not sure that gloves and/or helmets are made that don't leak at some point (especially flip-up helmets), but after many years of trying every remedy, I have found that PinLock anti-fog inserts really do work, amazingly well! They are not available for all helmets, but you might ask around when you visit motorcycle shops and see if they carry any.

My current favorite helmet is the Arai XD series, not everyone's cuppa tea, but it works for me (has even displaced my former favorite, a Schuberth). The PinLock insert has made it a good "all weather" hat for my tours. Here is the URL for the PinLock website:

    Pinlock Anti-Fog Insert

In regard to losing your luggage, you really need to "lose" whatever strap you are now using (even though, I know, they are color-matched to the rig), and discover the security of ROKStaps:

    ROKStrap Home Page

More and more motorcycle shops have gotten the religion and now carry the long "motorcycle" adjustable flat stretch straps. The design is brilliant, and they really work because they maintain tension on the load at all times. You shouldn't have left home without them :D.

And, for what it's worth, the weather here in the Seattle area has been just super for the last couple of weeks. Hope the trend holds for your visit here!

I just wanted to let you know I'm loving your posts. looks like a wonderful trip (despite the occasional shower). And it's a great looking setup (despite the wonky wheel).

Retirement is coming soon and my rig will be following your tracks. keep the pics coming!

    Mikepa,
Thanks for the advice!! We're thinking about replacing our helmet as well so, will do that first then look into Pinlock Anti-Fog insert...looks rather interesting. As for ROKStrap....well, Elmer has 8 of them already but he thought it would be OK to just "tuck" em in between 2 sacks and it would stay in place...:nono :nono ahem, had I known that I would have strapped them down properly! :D  We thought we'd get by with our Walmart suit....got a bit lazy while our one piece BMW rainsuit sat nice and dry in our trunk... :huh :eek1
We're enjoying the good weather you've been having. Hope it will stay that way for the most part of our trip. :ricky

Hi Elmer and Sharon, Enjoying your posts. We're even catching on to the lingo! We still do "sailor speak" you know. :D Sounds like you're doing well :clap , though hope that weather has broken for you. Went to a b-day party for Donna, former owner of Magic, last weekend. Wonderful to see them, and others we hadn't seen in a long time. Remember Jan and Karen on Blackwatch??? they said to tell you hello. They are now proud owners of Baba 40, Bella. Meeting a bunch of folks on the Chester River next weekend. Your rig looks awesome. :thumb Of course, we didn't expect anything less! Have a wonderful time, be safe, and keep those posts coming. We'll talk with you soon. Love and hugs, The Mangoes

The coffee was superb and the kids were the cutest. The kids were fascinated with our "crayola" rig they wanted to hop on. We had fun.

Here is a demonstration of the tilt modulator, which I have become fond of. So far it's been very reliable. I think the past problems were attributed to it being mounted upside down thus giving the elements a chance penetrate its weak side(leak). Mine is mounted upright and it's also protected by a canvas cover.

    Too tilted????

Flip the switch and tilt to suit..

Hi everyone....we finally reached our staging area for Alaska: WASHINGTON STATE....and what a state this is. I've only been here once..in the dead of winter and thought who wants to live in this NorthWet state. I wannnnaaa live here......!!

It's a longish state on the map and here are some loooooong pictures as far as the eye can see.

Rode route #2 all the way from Spokane to Bavaria, Germany..oops..Austria (Leavenworth) and you'll see why.

Route #2 leads you through wheat fields; deserts; mini-grand canyon....Swiss like Alps. This route was recommended to us by a young guy at some coffe shop in Coeur d' Alene, ID. It's a long, long ride but well worth it...
