    Yo Greg...

Thanks for the compliments on the story.

Don't blame "nobody" who don't want to hack yout GT. It's a lovely machine and adding a sidecar to it...hmmnnn....you cannot GT the whole rig:evil or entertain the rig in GT fashion:huh. Find yourself the latest 1150GGS as there are plenty of these around and have it hacked by one of the 3 fine Hack fabricators; DMC; CSM or Hannigan....!

    Cheers...

    here's what i thought i'd do:
    create the first..... HYBRID HACK....
my GT and a SIDECAR JUST LIKE YOURS

wouldn't that make a nice "eclectic" combination?

    the thing is:
i have a brand-new GS Adventure i cannot possibly hack
    and...
used GSs are impossible to come by
and i love my GT and don't really need 3 bikes, at this point

    i'm nuts.... that's been long-ago established
i just wonder if a sidecar just like yours, or a claude stanley CSM-1
would look ok on the GT and ride as well
i WOULD to the car tire conversion as you've done now

    what to do?
    what to do?

Since Claude is now affiliated with Hannigan....Me thinks that a streamlined Hannigan tub would be a lot more aesthetic with a GT, but forget going on roads less traveled: dirt, gravel, mud, sand, etc!

Sharon and Elmer, I only recently found this ride report of yours but myself and friends have admired your sidecar for quite some time now.

An amazing adventure, one I have shown pictures of to my wife daily. She's getting the hint finally :lol3

PM your postal details and I'll send you a very bice Australian Red wine.

    David.

A toast to adventure and adventurers!

Like Clearwater, gotta admit that I didn't start thinking about getting my first hack until after I read this RR. My pocketbook would be much healthier today had I not seen this thread!

I know this is from 6 years ago but I really enjoyed it. This is a bump so the next bunch of folks get a chance to read it as well.

For information, Elmer and Sharon's hack now resides along the Salmon River Country of Idaho, Riggins to be more specific. It's being ridden and and enjoyed by a man and his dog and the most recent mod is a GSA tank. Ride easy, gp :clap

Actually she belongs to my friend. I had the great privilege of traveling to White Salmon with him and riding it home last summer. I have two hacks, a '77 R100 dirt hack and a'85 K100RS EML, so he trusted me to bring her back to ID for him. We expect to make the Chief Joseph rally in John Day, OR, this summer as well as the BMWMOA national in Billing, MT, this summer. Hope to see you on the road. Ride easy, gp

    Elmer:

You need to paint the Sprinter - color ain't right. I'm thinking some Monza red and yellow, with some black stripes, would be more appropriate.

Can't recall if you've seen my new rig. Here it is with and without ballast:

Glad you and Sharon are having fun - hope you are enjoying Prescott. Sorry to miss you in Wilmington.

    Hi Duncan...how are you?

Yeah, love your rig. Conspicuity, conspicuity and more conspicuity.... in todays traffics, even wild animals take note :poser.

How is your new rig performing ?; a bit heavy compared to the light DMC sidecar? Even DB of the "Large CSM Hack, small Schnauzer" fame got himself one.

Really did think of a paint scheme for the Van but that would be a lot of paint and $$$, however she's big enough looking like a Moose and am sure is seen on roads.

We miss Hacking...really miss it, but have so much invested into the Van, plus got a standard Dachshund ...eh!

    You take care--

    cheers.....

Ah. the good old dempster highway. Back in the mid 80,s I ran from Whitehorse to Inuvik twice a week with freight with an R model Mack, Had three other trucks but the Mack was the only one to stand up to the punishment, the picture of the road is a place we all called (no mans land) as in winter storms you would have to follow the reflectors you see on the left of the picture to stay on the road in white outs, thanks for sharing, brings back some good and bad memories. diverdown.:eek1
