I rode West Mountain Trail from Sagehen Reservoir to Snowbank Mountain today. It was a pretty difficult trail, very steep and rocky. I ended up being in way over my head and on the last difficult part before I got to the road I cracked the engine case on my KLX. I ended up walking about five miles before getting a ride to the highway where my beautiful and loving wife picked me up. We are going to head back up there tomorrow to JB Weld the engine case and get the bike out, since we are going to be up there we are going to raft the Cabarton stretch of the North Fork Payette on Sunday. Is there something that works better than JB Weld for a cracked engine case? Funny thing is I was taking a break after trying and failing on that difficult spot a couple times and I thought to myself "How the fuck would I get my bike out of here if it broke down?" Well, I guess I jinxed myself because on the next try I cracked the engine case on a rock. I was actually a little relieved because I was so wore out and was going so slow. I finally got to start walking and make some good time. Oh, well, thems the breaks I guess. I will put some pics up shortly.
