My advice. If you are going on a weekend be very careful on the shared use trails. The SxS riders are CRAZY and nearly hit us a few times around corners. This area is best ridden during the week to avoid a potentially tragic event. If you are there on the wknd hug your side of the trail - it may save your life. Otherwise a great trip. Next up, two days of fast VT/MA dirt roads back home.

Since it has been summer-like the past week with no rain and they are predicting near-90 weather for the next 3 days, what is the mud situation like on the northern half of the Hamster?

Are you bringing the Xr next weekend or the Yamaha packing dirt?

No mud - lots of dust and dry marbly gravel.

Oh forgot to mention there is a loo at the end of the Hampster which was most convenient for those of us who were never issued a bush permit. IMG_7032.JPG

Update on 9/30 ride. @PackinDirt and I are going to leave Lyme Country Store at 9:20AM on Saturday and head up together. Anyone passing through Lyme at that time is welcome to join us. We're taking Route 10 up, no interstate.

Home - safe & sound - another NDR Fall Excursion in the books - 1200 miles in four days, with no broken bikes or bodies. Many thanks to the OP for creating the Hampster - we had a great run!

One last bit of advice - bring extra petrol - - you will need it - gas stations are few and far in-between up there - especially north of Jefferson. We needed to hit up the Rotopax a few times to make it to a gas stop for the bikes with a range less than 150 miles/tank.

at most, 10 riders. I would say it' a success if we can get 7. anymore than 10 might be challenging to manage. someone should bring a siphon with them so you guys can steal gas from my fat ass 30 liter Adventure tank. If I'm going to slow you guys down, I should at least act as your auxiliary fuel tank :p

But seriously, I expect 2 drop offs between now and Saturday but that's normal.

The rider that I know has backed out. I believe I have a siphon which I will bring. Tomorrow evening I will need to know if anyone wants the second hotel room that I reserved otherwise I will cancel.

Be sure to pack a dry heavy plastic container (Mid-Sized Gatoraide bottle) to transfer the fuel once you drain it - siphon won't work unless gravity fed.
