FreeTheBeast...is there a link to a current gpx file for the hamster? Hoping to do the most northern point to south in a few days. I use a Garmin 550.
See first page of this thread.
Sat-Navs are loaded up with the Hamster Route. Finally figured out how to show the Hamster on my primary nav so I don't have to keep the iPhone open all day and deal with navigating on a screen that doesn't allow for gloves. Packing very light tomorrow. Just the basics and bike will be prepped for lots of dumps.
ten 4 .packing light myself.weather looks pretty good for this weekend.see you guys in littleton at 10.
see you at 8 red card at the irving
Have fun guys! Be sure to post plenty of photos...
Bringing the XR for our ride today. Been super busy and didn't check the thread.
I'm packed up for cold weather camping.
See you all in Littleton.
Welp, lots of photos & videos today but I'm too frozen and tired to go through them all until tomorrow. A few highlights / remarks:
Rolled out of Littleton around 11:05...takes like 30 minutes to get to dirt from there. There has to be another dirt route in that area to break up so much tarmac
This time, it was way drier than last time I did North Hamster (early June). While there was a lot of dust, I enjoyed not sliding around in mud
The last 30 minutes of gravel was a workout. I actually have blisters on my palms and I'm not a white-knuckle rider
Ended up passing or passing by a dozen Mass plated cars that had no business being on these roads. A BMW Coupe, Tiny little Honda / Nissan "FAUX-UVs" taking photos of trees. Not even sure how they found these roads
My kryptonite, that 400 foot descent before you come out at highway 3 was back for more. While not as rutted as last time I went down, it was still the most challenging part of the ride. no mud but I just took my time and hopped around the various baby-heads
Before we got to 3, we hit a ton of incredibly deep rutted, nastiness with broken up water drains and crazy last minute rocks. I even bottomed out on the GSA! All of us were scrapping the skid-plates on this bit and I admit, we should have not been going 50MPH on such rough unpredictable terrain.
I decided to stop in Errol for gas this time and am glad I did. Made it home with 40 mile range but that's Errol to the pond to Pittsburgh to Home but still, gas + subway is a nice choice. I think the Errol gas station should be a part of the hamster. Adds 10 minutes but after that spot, there are no more places to get gas that aren't out of the way.
I really thought Border Pond would be easy to get our bikes on the pond or near it for a photo-op. A gate was there keeping us out
The porta-potty there is really nice!
How can I get a "hamster Ride" sticker?!?!?!? who has one of these?!?!
Didn't run Knobbies. Got the Michelin Annakkee IIIs down to 32 & 39 PSI (36-43 is stock). They performed beautifully as always. Sometimes I really want knobbies and then I can pretty much hang with a 600CC w/ knobbies all day so I will keep running these until they're ready to change
bear tavern was a nice joint
I only made us turn around once today and it's because the Hamster route has bread-crumbs off route 3 on the way to border pond that seemingly just goes into the woods. I hung a left and should have gone right
The ATV trails today were pretty dead. Lots of side-by-sides out there though.
I did not drop the bike! Amazing!!!!
Littleton to Border Pond
11:05AM - 5:00PM
That's with a half hour stop in Errol and two 10 minute stops. Honestly, that's pretty damn good for me. FYI to those that are curious on timing.
More photos tomorrow after editing:
FINALLY some photos!
If you guys have any photos or videos of me doing stupid shit, please send them to me via email or dropbox. I don't get all of my fails on video and want to keep a compilation going.
As for videos...they're coming. taking a while, 4K @30FPS + 23K Time Lapse Frames
Oh, and did Adam mention it was friggin' cold and raining in the morning? Warmed up to a nice, sunny afternoon, though.
Camped at Deer Mountain State Campground, just south of the Canada border on Rt. 3, and woke up to frost on the tent this morning. We had fire, beer, and stories so we survived.
Thanks to Adam for another successful and fun trip on the Hamster.
Our fearless leader..
Thanks, for leading Adam

What a epic ride this weekend with a great group! Thanks for organizing and leading the pack Adam. I did not take many photos but here they are and a link to a short video.
Today Dualscotty and I took the notches home. Jackson Notch then Franconia Notch, Tripoli Road to Waterville Valley then over Sandwich Notch. I almost became a hood ornament on a SUV that was coming around a blind corner. Slowed down around corners after that close call.

I’m all about volume. Not about quality. You’ve been warned. Got 5 hours down to 30 minutes for “highLights”. My career at ESPN would be short lived!
Also, time to invade the puppy dog thread. Spring 2018, same group? I think we can make a weekend out of it.
Puppy dog route I'm in . Sounds great
