It was enlightening in several ways.

Turn off your cell phone, take a break from sportsball, chart a course on a forgotten back road, sleep in a tent with no television, and venture out there for a few days alone. You'll be glad you did.

Yes, you saw that correctly, RWV has been canceled for 2014. The organizer pulled out due to some personal commitments. Its very disappointing, but you really can't blame the guy for making a decision between doing whats best for his family, and doing the rally. It really shows that we need more participation in the sport at all levels, be it racers, volunteers, organizers, etc. They extended early registration for Magnum Opus as a consolation, but I'm not allowed to ride yet, so I can't go. I'm supposed to be able to ride again by July, but everything is going really well with the recovery from the last operation, so I will probably be back on the bike in a couple of weeks. Nothing more than putting around at first.

I have a good friend who goes to Peninsula Physical Therapy & Aquatic rehabilitation, after having a rather nasty throw from a horse (one of those motorbike-type things with no engine and 4 legs). She speaks highly of them.

So hey, does anyone know the story behind all of the "NO TRESPASSING" signs that suddenly popped up at every entrance to the Oceana riding area? I wonder if it was because of that stuck truck I posted a while back. My favorite riding area in the city shut down overnight! I can't figure out why the government would care if folks ride back there. I don't want to face a felony just to ride a cool area, so this truly sucks.

One came back with some extra pieces hahaha. Pops got cross rutted and tossed, broke his leg in 3 spots. We had 2 bikes drowned and 1 seize up but all of them got running again. It was an awesome epic journey. Ill post some pics.

If it were your property, would you want people riding around without permission, disturbing the land, getting things stuck, dumping fluids, possibly getting hurt, etc. on it?

Honestly, I'm surprised nothing has happened yet. But with everything I see posted, I figured it was only a matter of time before they shut it down.

It was smoking pretty good at the start, then ran low on oil and siezed. After an epic campground tear down until about 12AM, it bump started the next morning after being dragged about half a mile :lol3. After that it ran like a champ even though it was smoking like mad.

If it were my property, I would do something with it. The government does absolutely nothing with that land, and it has been used for years by locals to walk, bike, and ride with no ill effect (at least none that I know of). That land was useful to folks before the signs went up. Now it will be rendered useless. Just one more mindless decision by bureaucrats. That's my perception. You may feel differently, and I am okay with that.

    Cheers,
    Lance

That land isn't owned by the city, state, or Feds. It's privately owned. It's owned by a development company.

I used to patrol there. Part of it is Oceana property, but most is owned by the development company. They used to call every couple of months and complain about trespassing and we'd have to step-up patrol there. In this day and age of people suing everyone, they have to do that to try and protect their bottom line....
